I'm not gonna lie, OP seemed pretty reasonable here. Why do you feel so angry about his comments? They seemed to come from a place of curiosity and understanding...

Not sure the source of downvotes, what you are saying seems true. From my experience they will generally not even interview a new grad who has experience for E3 jobs with an internal referal.

IMO the system is lacking features intentionally. There are definitely sites which sort of re-skin hackernews to serve whatever preference they have (for example, to show the top post on each day, and that's it.) I imagine you could ma

Seconding this. Great game. My favorite part is the xp modifier you get from really long kill streaks, something that exists in many games (like diablo) but really adds a fun twist to the grindy combat.

To be fair... you can stay at an airbnb and still be completely distanced from the owner of said airbnb. Yeah, you have to travel, but for many this is also possible without any close contact.

I am currently at a high paying job... This is my plan but I don't know if I can make it. It feels like such a privileged position but I see and hear of sudden tragedies and wonder, is this really something I am comfortable doing if my

I agree, but in a distributed world I wonder how we could ever end up enforcing something like that in a positive way. Like, if we add some inheritance tax that ends up being prohibitively large, at some point the amount of money these peop

If you can sustain that income for 10 years (and lets assume, some moderate growth in income, but even at a static 200k) there is a good chance that you don't have to work another day in your life that you don't want to. To me, th

I personally would consider top 5 percent of any task to be the low bar of proficiency, so even that doesn't seem super impressive to me. But damn, the jobs pay well and wlb can be great (or terrible). I guess the weird part is that th

Yeah, that's something that I have been a bit confused on too. People talk about how hard it is and the "prestige", but there are 20k+ other engineers who did the same thing (at your company alone!). It's really not all

Can you expand on why it's sad? As someone who doesn't have a twitter account or participate much in social networking sites, it still seems like a true statement at face value for a large part of the population.

On the other hand, some of the questions can be rather interesting to solve. I also notice there are just a few patterns/techniques that you can use to solve them so the questions themselves do not seem all that important.
