From the looks of it, YOU ARE the product. That is, manufacturing optics of a "partner" and "distributer" ecosystem for AMD. And on borrowed time, too.

Nobody cares what HPC industry has to say; until recently, they have happily been jerking off Monte-Carlo simulations on overpriced nation-grade supercomputer NUMA clusters and didn't know what a "GPU" was anyway! Also please

I don't get it why people demo COT reasoning with o1 when there's models like Gemini 2.0 Thinking that would usually solve the same tasks and would happily produce the full output.

If somebody's getting "shocked" by this, then it's having the intended effect as far as poetry is concerned. It's important reminder to what HN is, really, even though I would expect it to largely fall on deaf ears.

There's a reason why you don't see frontier-grade AI researchers throwing around meaningless numbers to go with the most layman idea of a product in the field imaginable. The whole thing stinks. I reckon this is some kind of extor

My mistake! I used to get 48xlarge in eu-central-1 for $2/hr but it could be luck for all I know, seems Spot pricing for these instances are fluctuating considerably: it's at $8/hr now. https://aws.amazon.com/

No it's not! These are probably imposters anyway. Apparently, you can buy HN upvotes... I find it hard to believe that honest researchers from frontier labs would behave like crypto scammers.

I'm not saying you're an imposter... but you're making it really easy to assume that; it doesn't seem you have learnt much while you guys were there. Are you sure you weren't hired by mistake?

How did you arrive at 15k? For personal use, it's common to get aftermarket 3090's, link them up four-way (96 GB is not half-bad) and put it in some server motherboard with as many DDR5 channels as possible... imho in 2025 this is

Workflows aside, I think "interruptible work" is what matters, really. That is, maintaining state in-between inferences so that it follows some well-defined goal.

I hate to break it to you, but all modern electronic warfare equipment has been targeting all GNSS for many years now. There's a reason why "GPS-denied", which is really referring to any form of satellite navigation, is a mul

> ChatGPT (as far as I can tell) is no closer to being accountable or responsible for anything it produces. What does it even mean? How do you imagine that? You want OpenAI to take on liability for the kicks of it?
