I really don't understand. Maybe I'm stupid. But I don't see the issue. I work with go daily, but I'm pretty sure our binary is pegged to a specific go version, using go.mod I don't see in what scenario I would add

Understood, thanks for clarifying. I didn't mean to attack your specific wording. I strongly agree with your mention of "preferably national level" regulation. More and more, across all issues, I see this as our biggest obsta

Who is incentivized to run projects in the way proposed? Why are teams continuing to do waterfall if its results are so undesirable? For what it's worth, all the startups I've worked for conducted software projects with the "

Yes, I would agree the current state of the profession absolutely attracts low quality candidates. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. Every other wealthy nation understands this.

Pretty much what I expect from a union fighting a society who refuses to value the work that they do. I really have a hard time blaming teachers for anything. We (America) seem to expect them to perform miracles. We are not their "cust

Pretty much except writing graphql schemas is actually quite enjoyable and expressive. I was always the biggest advocate for schema-first development, but OpenAPI specs were always such a pain to write and maintain. For this reason alone I

I couldn't agree more. I think it's disingenuous to pretend that the hacker news demographic isn't historically aligned with the NIMBY class, as you put: "affluent". Its easier to say "cities" did this tha

Who are "cities"? It's the people who live there and vote for the city government. We did this.

I felt the opposite once I stopped writing backends in Python and moved to Scala, then Go. The compiler is like an extra set of eyes attached to a brain that doesn't make mistakes. The type system in Scala especially freed up so much t

Well, in this case, I suspect Google can stop providing services, which would significantly hinder Twitter's operations. If your mechanic still had possession of your car, I guess it would be a similarly leveraged situation.
