I've been doing the Coursera course on Algorithms (from Stanford by Tim Roughgarden). He's going over concepts like Big-O notation as well as analyzing algorithms. This particular article is a refreshing read, and I would highly suggest the

Does this straight up just not work for anyone? I am typing in commands and am getting no feedback. Just getting a new $ line.

Studying Political Science/Business. Really regret not opting for Computer Science. However, these regrets are fleeting. More focussed on capitalizing on my political science/business education (and liberal arts education as a whole) to exp

Joomla is so slow. It looks like nothing about it has significantly changed over the last four years. I'd recommend Wordpress (very simple) or even Drupal (which is complicated, but more CMS-like as Joomla is).

I actually just don't get why, architecturally, a platform should have any incentive (besides business) to favour this app or that app. You can see how this becomes complicated when Twitter & FB both recieved integration, as they both d

Right but he mentioned resumes. On resumes, the first filter is the most relevant degree. How do you bypass that in the context of HR filtering thousands of resumes? A lot of this advice is stuff that you can talk about in an interview, may

One suggestion I'd make is organize your deadlines by what gives you the most tangible results - for example visual results (ie, your prototype shows visible milestones). This will give you a kind of pat-on-the-back moment that motivates yo

Isn't Facebook more of a paradoxical phenomenon? You go to Facebook to use Facebook to communicate with people on Facebook. My point being that it's both a community and a medium of communication at the same time?

I'd rather not generalize this as Facebook's war on privacy moreso on the fact that, Facebook has a problem with generating ad revenue and this feature doesn't really make sense.

Does this make anyone worry that Facebook's reaching for some really desperate (and scary) ideas of generating ad revenue/recognition?

I really like your insight but I'm kind of curious as to how spectacular this marketing would need to be. I saw a preview of BlackBerry 10's new phone but it doesn't seem like a particularly new or revolutionary offering. It makes minor, ne

It's really not a question of Microsoft's specific branding strategy but an indication of how opposed Microsoft's big, bloated bureaucratic culture to the modern, fast, lean technological era we are proceeding in. One thing that really upse

Can the point of separate apps be justified in reinforcing that Facebook is more of a platform than just a website? They also have Pages & Messenger. I like the idea of isolating these aspects because it gives more utility to these indi

I just think the arguments fall on two spectrums. On one end is that Linus is God and that he's untouchable. On the other end is that Linus is a asshole that tells everyone off. The more reasonable middle being that Linus is a pretty smart

I don't think he's denying the merits. You need to interpret closely what he is saying. The essential premise is to say that the product is flawed, archaic and intrusive. It's based off of a "toolbar" premise that evolving technology has ec

As per my brother's recommendation, I ignored all the modern hoo-ha's about high-level programming languages and dove right into C and C++. Spent weeks grinding it out until I was finally comfortable writing code. I can tell you honestly th

I'm more astounded by the fact that Linus is on a social networking site like Google+. I'm really hoping he makes a Twitter account for his rant-I mean comments :D

Finally someone makes the explicit mention. The app looks great but I think the tab interface looks really...just dumb. I don't understand why so much of my screenspace has to be filled with this obtrusive icon preview of an entire webpage

As some one else had already said, Dropbox is non-intrusive. It's a stand-alone product that, by doing so, offers incredible flexibility. The differentiating factor is that, unlike other Cloud Services, it doesn't want to get in your way. I
