I too like landscape. But we designed our app in portrait mode because it was easier, both technologically and because it fits with people's general perceptions of magazines. We're hoping to make it both in the future, but it's a lot harder

I think you're discounting the value of people's opinions too much. Basing a decision on what the denizens of Hacker news think is the best answer is a perfectly acceptable method of moving forward. Whole businesses and methods are based on

I care because I want to know the right answer. Sometimes people post questions seeking the wisdom of the crowd, and its impossible to tell which comment gets the highest vote. Which negates the reason for asking the crowd in the first plac

Right, but the relationship between replies is not known. Is reply number 1 far ahead of reply number 2? Or are they close. Plus, what about replies with different parents. How do you tell which reply has more votes?

What are you looking for in life? You can pick the one with the most money. Or the one with the most risk but biggest reward. Or you can pick the one where you will learn the most. Write down where you want to be 10 years from now and go fo

In general yes, but that doesn't tell you if comment number 2 is way ahead of comment number 3, or if they both suck compared to comment number 1. And see my comment below about replies. How are those ranked?

And the replies to the answers? For example, if a reply gets the most votes. How do I know when that happens?

I think this guy is wrong. He's mixing apples and oranges when it comes to who owns what. Apple is requiring people who use its software to create an e-book to give Apple a cut of the proceeds of the Apple created e-book . The author still

Tell your friend to take a chill pill. Then calculate how much work you did and what you think you should be paid for it. Give back anything over that amount and give him all the files you worked on. Then move on. If you're honest with your

Yeah, I had this problem at my last job. I had to read around 1000 pages a day of material. I couldn't remember people's names 10 seconds after meeting them. I stopped remembering phone numbers completely. Since I stopped that job life is a

All of the above. Currently, a non-technical user who knows html and web development (or has a designer on staff) can use your software or other open source software to create one magazine issue, and then they get stuck. You need to know ob

This is frustrating, and frankly, very odd. I want to buy it now. The publisher could have my $10 now. That's a good price point. I'm not going to buy it at the store, because I hardly every go to the bookstore and I don't have a car. Nor d
