You can do just about everything a native app can do with RN. If you have a very small, capable team that's all on the same page, it's a good choice. For large existing codebases in large organizations, it's a very poor cho

Having worked on a large native codebase with RN features integrated for a couple of years now, there are a lot of downsides for our particular use case. I am aware that some of these are organizational rather than strictly technical issues

I'd long ago deleted my Facebook account, but the #deletefacebook push did strengthen my resolve enough to finally move my Gmail over to Fastmail. No regrets.

I recently decided to ditch Gmail because I don't trust Google any more than Facebook. One nice side effect of this is that now that I'm using my own domain, all company signups can be to me@spam.domain.com, which is much harder t

Could you explain how this would work in practice? If I'm allocating a percentage of my salary to, for example, Vanguard's total stock market index, how would that get siphoned?

Conversely, I am happy to have existed during the tiny slice of history between the internet being invented and governments and corporations figuring out how useful it is and controlling it for their own purposes.

There are alternatives to a five star rating system. The old Couchsurfing site did this nicely with open ended feedback and a vouching system.

I don't know where you live, but in my town it's very common to bring children to have a beer. The local brewery even has complimentary diapers in the mens bathroom. I count myself lucky to have that as an option, but even if I

I was under the impression the intrinsic value of fiat currencies is the ability to pay taxes with them and thereby avoid negative attention from the folks with a monopoly on the use of force. Is my understanding incorrect?

Access to information like you describe would be very useful in a free market, but the ISP market is not. If I get a report from my ISP outlining how they throttled me, how am I supposed to act on that information?

It's more of an issue now just because our usage of the internet has become increasingly fundamental to day-to-day life. It was, of course, already on this trajectory pre-2015, but corporate and government understanding of the internet
