I think they're saying: def calling_context: bar(foo) is cleaner. The problem with decorators is that they don't know the calling context, or provide a mechanism to adapt to that context short of monkey patching. That said, they

Crowdfunding is a very funny way of spelling "Will Wheaton". I know the reason I'm funding these games is because he reminded me how much fun they can be.

I'm not sure LTS would help us. If 1.8 had been deemed LTS we may have delayed the upgrade work until it was EOL... then what? We'd still be facing months of upgrade work, but on a significantly larger code base. This is a problem

Except... have you seen the changes between 1.8 and 1.13? It might as well be a new framework. So far moving from 1.8 to 1.8 on CLI has taken my team 3 months, and we still need to migrate to 1.13 if we are to remain supported. Ember provid

Its more like selling someone a meal in a restaurant, and refusing to let them see the kitchen. You can, if you are skilled, infer how the ingredients became your meal, but you won't ever know if it was done in a clean an safe way unle

I enjoy sharing the atmosphere and sunlight with a fern. I'm not sure that companionship, even among dogs could be considered anything other than anthropomorphism. I definitely find that I have more in common with the fauna than the fl

I find myself restarting the repl once an hour or so, and running lein 2-3 times an hour (I run lein test before each push and lein install after most rebase/merge). I suspect it sticks out like a saw thumb as its the only bit of Cloju

I was clutching at straws, I'm an functional programmer myself and I vaguely remembered something in SICP that used objects to solve circuit problems. I'm sure objects good for something... right?

I'm a meat eater due to my biology more than anything else, I love the taste and I'm allergic to most fruits and vegetables (ORA). Before the degree of my ORA was known, I did play at being vegetarian for 6 months for ecological,

Its more like 18 months. Unless you already know a lisp or Haskell. The only thing I can say is that it is totally worth it, I know very few people who regret putting it in their head. The same is less true for Ruby, php, Visual Basic.

I had similar thoughts but wanted to take it a step further and just have a GC less Clojure built on Rust. You would have to do things like nest functions inside of (ns), you couldn't have (def) but this is all before I've spent a

I know backward compatibility with Java 5 is important for the clojure world, but I would love to see streams and invoke dynamic implemented in a "Clojure 2.0". I would love to do it myself, if someone would pay me to do it :)

"quite possible that this kind of device will be the norm in 10 years" I want to believe this, but I just can't see people caring, ever. The worst has already happened. Edward Snowdon has exposed that government can, and does

Clojure is an immutable language built on top of mutable hosts. Interop is handled beautifully. A go hosted Clojure (gojure?) would probably be fine.

Clojure has recur, which is tail recursion that detects not being in the tail. I prefer that to implicit tails with quiet , expensive fails like scheme.
