If you can make a case for why you need an absolute date at that level for a Pinterest item, then I'd be all ears. But for now these use cases demanding absolute dates for ephemeral social media content seem ephemeral.

I think there's room for both relative and absolute. Encode the absolute in the metadata for machine readability and display relative to the people for as long as it makes sense. We can go beyond 'it must be 0 or 1' when it comes to the pre

Of course it's annoying. Facebook wants you to feel pain whenever you try to manage your own social presence in a way they can't monetize.

Look at what it took for them to get to embrace HTML tools, all of which are very recent. Whiney full page ads, screeching blog posts, deleted 'fuck apple' tweet tantrums. I agree that they're getting into some interesting stuff, but the pa

Some users will. I asked Quora to delete my account today over this issue. I'm just one person, and many of those who are angry and hurt care about the service, so they feel betrayed (rightly).

I get the difference between buying a finished product and helping fund the prospect of one you believe in. It's speculation with the return measured in non-monetary means. A point that could've been made in a tweet, on Twitter even.

I tip my hat. The passive-aggressive corporate speak that commits to nothing while cutting a throat is a master work.

I like this. Simple and focussed, and invaluable to anyone willing to learn from what worked and didn't for others.

Every few years these photos cross my path and every time I'm just as captivated as when I saw them as a kid. The further we get from that era, the more remarkable the accomplishment feels.

Really excellent piece of work. I've been using Omnigraffle for almost 10yrs and this is the first web-based tool that I've felt good about. Really great work.

What does gender have to do with opinions about whether someone should be able to rent out a room in a building they own? Renters don't tend to look after properties. No, that's why it's called rent and they have property managers or landlo

I have to agree. The Tweetbot alpha is more enjoyable than Twitter's stalled adaptation of Tweetie.

I'm not sure the two conflict. Twitter integration doesn't offer any kind of twitter browsing experience, only posting from other apps. I use the iOS integration for some posting, but consume and post most of my stuff through Tweetbot on iP

Yeah they're 'give us your email to find out what it is' model belongs in the library of ux anti-patterns. Luckily you can put junk data in, they don't verify the email before letting you see what it's about. And even that doesn't tell you

Ripped off is subjective. I want someone else to take care of that stuff for me, so that makes Apple's direction a good one for me. I don't like tinkering with my computer, I don't like fucking around with it to make it do what I need. I do
