I like it - it's software the encourages you, maybe even forces you, to share the experience with someone else turning every user into evangelist. It also seems like it would make financial transactions very simple. My only concern would be

Disclaimer: I'm don't do any web software at all, I work on embedded devices. We use IDs and I've not seen too many of the problems you mention. I will, however, agree that the string length can cause serious problems for a layout. We tend

Why doesn't this scale to any number of languages? Assuming you are using the existing practice of not hard coding strings in your software but rather referring to them with some sort of IDs then I see no reason not to use 3000 languages wi

My companies product supports about 35 languages and 25 countries. I think 'just use Unicode' is fairly accurate. The problem may be how you go about doing it. I'm reminded of a professor that used to tell his students to use libraries and

This is a serious problem but I don't think this is as easily solved by face to face, or telephone, communication as the author seems to think. I used to have a professor that claimed interpersonal communication fails 95% of the time. I now

I think this is clearly a response to StackOverflow. If I can get a lot of high quality content on the sorts of things O'Reilly publishes books about in a free online place (StackOverflow) why would I waste money on purchasing their books?

I think you are being a bit pedantic here. While he may not have made the purchase with his own finances he is the one making the decision and coming up with the strategy... and THAT is what people are interested in. People will be interest

I haven't used Wave yet. My good friend nominated me (or whatever they are calling it) and I'm just waiting. But, I can't help but feel the backlash at the instant typing is just the anti-Google backlash that happens with their new releases

This is completely absurd. People should not be given rights that require someone provide something for them. Surely, the problem with believing someone has a 'right' to broadband internet access they should also have a right to a computer,

I don't see how this is in the same vane as zappos. They appear to be really interested in great customer service but ultimately zappos provided a specialized store that sold ANY kind of shoes you needed in ANY sizes in the most friction fr

I think the Google Book initiative is great. I'm no conspiracy theorist but It seems the biggest problem with this type of service is verifiability. If Google has digitally transcribed some very rare work that is later destroyed it will be
