Curious how they are going to handle someone whose lineage includes someone who was brought to the US as a slave on one side and on the other an Ashanti of the upper class who got rich of selling slaves to the Portuguese. Do they only get h

If I understand it correctly, the key to this method is to teach children to recognize chords first and then the notes in them. They practice by associating a different colored flag with each chord.

I sincerely doubt that if you ask a professional musician with perfect pitch if they would "turn it off" they would say yes.

Agreed. > If education is expensive, then making it less expensive seems to be the natural solution than eliminating its requirement. Most of the arguments I see saying that college is too expensive are kind of like people using Lamborgh

It would really help if the headline differentiates between a "user" and a "customer." If a bunch of people who had someone else's password are no longer able to watch Netflix, that is probably what Netflix wants.

The form factor seems similar to a retainer so it might not be much of an impediment to talking as long as you can turn it off and on.

Buying used DVDs and then just reselling them when you are done isn't a bad way to handle a series that you want to watch.

I wonder if the lawsuit would have gone differently had they had thousands of DVD players that you were viewing the DVDs from remotely.

One potential difference is that for many things that are capital expenses (a building for example) a business is likely to take out a loan in order to buy it, so they don't have the full expense up front. A bank is probably not going

> Lucky? Yes, but we also felt that letting our kids learn to read at school was leaving too much to chance. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Your preparation gave your kids an opportunity they wouldn't have had otherwise

Was this because when people were allowed to work remote, fewer people quit to move to a different part of the country?

Very good point. There is a big difference between random layoffs and laying off the bottom 20%.

Right. And if we don't hold them back, it means that 50% of the students in the next grade are going to be holding back the the teachers ability to full help students who were in the top 50%.

If the average is what should allow you to succeed in the next grade, then the problem is that they are being allowed to go on to the next grade where they won't be prepared and will take resources from the kids that were prepared.

> Some schools being above grade level has nothing to do with teaching methodology, and everything to do with student composition While I mostly agree, we shouldn't underestimate the destruction that can be wrought by a bad teacher.

Pretty sure this would just reset what is normal. What children know how to do in 8th grade is going to be a normally distributed curve. Maybe you can move the curve to the right, but then what is normal just shifts to the right.

I think you are bringing up a key point. Probably the most important thing is whether we are getting better or worse. If kids 20 years ago were better able to do math in 8th grade than kids this year, it may indicate a very real problem. I

I don't think many intentionally lose money on gas though. If they weren't covering the cost of the gas, they would raise the price, which seems like a rational thing to do for a popular game.

I realize that, but it seems that a wildly successful older game would probably be able to amortize that cost over quite a few people still buying it at $3, $5, or $10.

If a gas station finds they can't sell gas at $2 per gallon, they could rip out the gas tanks and stop selling gas or they could raise the price to whatever is profitable. I'm not understanding the business logic of removing the g

From what I've seen of families in poverty, it is usually less about them fitting into the current environment and more an issue of them having a surrounding culture that makes it hard to take advantage of the current environment. A si
