Oh, I'm with you on the "get a prototype up and running, using consultants" part. Definetely a good investment. But depending on how much work was poured into this, it's probably relatively trivial to re-implement. It is a minimally viabl

Indeed. If he is hiring for a CTO, why has he made the technical decisions up front? I realise he has had a MVP built in Ruby, but that shouldn't dictate the technical platform - leave that for the future CTO to decide.

As long as you control the product entirely, I believe that it's possible to break tasks down into one-week chunks. But what happens when you depend on external parties to complete your task? If they don't delivery, or if it just takes a lo

Ah, you mean you'd like an explanation of those concepts? Well, I think I more or less understand the details by now, but it would take some effort to put it all into words. I'm afraid I don't quite have the time for that at the moment, so

That started out promising, but ended up a bit disappointing. Editing the zone file seems like the least interesting part of this topic. How about explaining the relationship between dns, registrars, soa records, ns servers etc.? This is

I was once told that trust is not something one earns from you - it's something you chose to invest in others. I think that's quite right.

This is my (only) beef with Rackspace. We're currently using them, but we're looking to migrate away. Because of their tiered pricing, we need to pay through the nose for our ssl-proxies/edge caches, since that's the only way we can get eno

Very impressive and an inevitable evolution, I guess. Although I must say that this is exactly what Stallman is warning us about. Javascript applications are fine as long as they are used as intended by the programmer, but they do not have

I tried something similar recently and got flooded with errors. The problem is that Javascript errors happens for all sorts of reasons outside your control. Affiliate banners, Facebook like buttons, strange browser toolbars, to name a few.

Wow. This is beyond ridiculous. The sole strength of php is that you can drop a file with the literal words "hello world" in your web root and there you are. Yes, you'd want to impose some structure as your application grows beyond that, bu
