The speed of it on the low end machines was not good even though it was advertised as speedy. It _worked_ on 286 machines but it was slow to use. Kind of annoying to use but so was Windows 3.0 on the same machines. I remember selling the id

Last time a headhunter managed snatch me was weird. I wasn't really active before deadline because I was on a holiday trip and the headhunter said "it's okay, let's call after your holidays". I wasn't actually

I remember playing some CGA games with some Hercules graphics card. There was two TSR programs which made it possible to run CGA color games with the yellow-on-black Hercules display. Can't remember the name of the other one but one of

I kinda relived parts of my own childhood with the story. Funnily written for childhood memoirs :) In my case the magical Windows version was Windows 95 Final Beta (AKA Chicago), which I managed to get through my fathers connections. Oh boy

And we're talking about whole country which already censors and blocks internet traffic so the telemetry being sent to the US wouldn't be a real problem anyway except for saving internal bandwidth / firewall capacity.

And my lasting impression is that LibreOffice is trying to make CSV import/export as easy as possible when MS Office is trying to make it actively harder and harder in every version.

Yeah they were slow and had limitations but on the other hand G3 iMacs were the cheapest DV-video-editing setups for schools and other lowend usage. Editing with them felt really good compared to some P3/K6 PCs I and my friend had. And

Or you just didn't know about similar Mac models then? :) Apple had LC|Performa 500 series of which the first models were sold in 1993 [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_LC_500_series ] And don't forget

I agree. The metaphor for manipulating files, drivers etc has been the pinnacle of the desktop metaphor (maybe with the exception of BeOS but they just copied and made kinda better version of MacOS classic. I recently bought a Powermac G4&#

Haven't used desktop Linuxes or Windows for about decade as macOS + Linux servers has provided useful common ground for both use cases. But even ten years ago KDE was a lot more nicer to use than Windows and I would assume they have go

Imagine, how much further Linux would be if people (and Microsoft) had used all the energy of trying to make Windows work like Linux instead of actually improving Linux. There has been lots of projects with that goal like Cygwin, Mingw, WSL

I belive Sigma realized that they need to up their game and a lot because the Chinese cheapo manufacturers (and partially Samyang) are eating the really low end niche. Of course Samyang has upped their game with the AF-equipped Sony FE -len
