Now that temperatures have dropped enough, my entire neighborhood is completely polluted with smoke. If I walk outside for 5 minutes, I'll smell like a bonfire the rest of the day.

What kind of challenges were you given? Might help if you can point specifically to where the gaps are.

Isn't this sorta what Oxide Computer is trying to solve? Where you can have your cloud and eat it too?

Is this as involved as it was a few years ago? I remember looking into this in 2017/2018 and the process of starting the business was relatively easy, but it was difficult to get a bank account.

I think you misunderstood me, or I didn't articulate myself well (maybe because I went to a public school?). The article says that the reason parents are flocking to this school is because of the high test scores. I was curious what t

The article doesn't even attempt to explain what they are doing differently to improve test scores (which is the fundamental reason driving people to put their kids there)

Good idea. I've been looking for something like this for a bit. Nice to see the Star64 already included. One big problem I ran into while using the Pi a few years ago is that the USB bus was shared with Ethernet bus and it caused mas

I bought a yearly zoo membership, which is where I work most days now. I get to hang with the animals after work, and there are plenty of quiet, forgotten spaces within zoos. The zoo cafeterias/cafes are basically empty on weekdays,

I would pay $10 a month for Twitter Black - it would block everyone with Twitter Blue and you get to interact with the dregs, the most controversial figures of all of Twitter, based on most reports/blocks/flags, etc. (minus the bo

Of course the whole system of becoming a doctor is screwed up (especially the match), but the chances that it will get fixed seem slim. I don't think we need tech to solve the problem in general - I think we need tech to solve the pro

One low-hanging fruit to help the medical system is to replace/supplement GPs. GPs just route to a specialist, with some treatment short-circuits along the way. Sometimes you are forced through this pipeline for insurance reasons. T

Right, my understanding is that that law also affects entire subreddits. Basically, I think they should go a step further: you only have access to EU-siloed twitter accounts without actively opting in and being warned. My general read is th

They should make the global Twitter read-only + opt-in with warnings, and allow EU to have their own EU arena with real identities tied to users (and restrict children to EU-only space). Then give regulators the direct controls to censor t

I guess I didn't realize unikernels could run on bare metal. I've only seen them running on a hypervisor.

I want to see this taken to the logical extreme. A real OS with actual drivers (no unikernel, no virtio) for a small set of hardware that only serves static pages. No need for virtual memory. Just hardcode the blog posts right into the OS

This is the ultimate test to me in how far we are with AI. If you stay abreast of AI advances, what do you think when you read the headline (let's pretend that they will use SOTA techniques)? A) Oooh boy! or, B) Hell no! I'm stric
