it's already prohibitively expensive for most people since most insurance doesn't cover it. Doesn't really seem like a solution. Edit: in the US. Can't speak for other nations.

This is very similar to my own experience. Having the freedom to try things out and explore my interests at a young age had a large impact later, and gave me a real sense of personal direction that I see many of my peers lacking. I do find

Cool project, writing a lexer/parser/tokenizer for a simple language was an enjoyable and gratifying experience when I dabbled in the past. It's fun to learn about how those things work in such a hands-on way.
