I want to believe BuzzFeed has found the future of sustainable and profitable news. I get how being a full-stack tech news startup can do things like create great lists/linkbait. But I don't understand how the tech gets you profit

Great post and congrats. 2 questions: 1. You're background is in SEO, how much do you attribute SEO to Examine's success thus far? 2. Why do you think it took 2 years to make decent revenue?

I lived in Mexico for 2 years. Zocalo was used to refer to "downtown" or to the public square. It's where everything is, and where you go when you need to get something. I think it's a great name.

A thousand times this. The worse case scenario is much, much worse for non-technical cofounders. They often don't have a deep, specialized skill that is easily used by other companies.

It will go a long way to have more people like Sam say "it's okay to talk." It's not like people have to open their souls on their blogs. But when high profile individuals like Sam "proclaim" that it's oka

For the nontechnical out there: This is a random name generator that pairs adjectives with names (e.g. "angry_einstein"). In the unlikely chance the generator returns the pair "boring_wozniak", it discards it and generat

Thanks for the detailed response(s). I also "justified" my post in another comment ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7832128 ) but I'll repeat myself for you, too. "Sometimes religion is the carrier o

"Your comment was basically offtopic and inflammatory." It was probably a bit offtopic, I"ll give you that. I was raised in a very religious family that has negatively impacted my life in a few ways. I guess I see the damage

Being downvoted for this comment so many times is a small example of PG's essay, "What You Can't Say." http://www.paulgraham.com/say.html

Another reminder of the dangers of religion. I believe one day people will look back on us with the same horror for preventing gay marriage, premarital sex, etc., as we do the past for things like human sacrifice.

FWIW, ngrok is so easy to set up that I remember audibly saying under my breath "wow" when I first used it. I get that abuse is a problem, but count my vote of extreme appreciation for how quickly I got exactly what I needed.
