The problem with this idea is that different consumers might have a different subset of what they accept and correct. If some of those become dominant, produces might start depending on that behavior and it becomes a de facto standard. This

I've seen plenty of sites survive these types of exploits just fine.

As someone who's been doing PHP for nearly 15 years, but 2 years ago switched to Node.js for a job, I agree. This is even more true when switching to Typescript. We introduced typing later in the project and wow what a step up in safet

I'd expect the encoding to be much shorter. Like, 1 emoji per 4 bytes.

I also noticed the search is pretty awful. I published a library that was impossible to find (even if written in full) because hitting 'enter' after a search just went to a more popular library that must have a closely matching te

So, given that Google Maps now has this feature, what's your reason now?

I got 8MB for the entire site (homepage, from empty cache). I don't think it's that bad either. The webapp does also 'feel' bloated to me, but it might not be due to total transferred bytes, but rather just the JS heavy

I only really see really misguided/unresearched/unhelpful comments downvoted. Rarely ever comments that are just contrarian. I'm curious if you think there's a problem, and why. Maybe I'm just inside the bubble.

Being able to create consistent builds seems more important to me than being forced to fix builds because random packages changed their API. You're right that it is technical debt to not be on the latest version, but if I need to roll

Some data that's not anecdotal would be nice. I work for a fairly large SF company which hires mostly newgrads every year.

There are plenty of examples of cryptocurrency related scams that present themselves as a legitimate investment. Aside from that, I think an argument could be made that bitcoin itself is a form of pyramid scheme. I'm not sure if I 100%

Even though it might in theory have been the best default for end-users, in practice they made DNT fail as a result because advertisers wanted users to make an explicit choice instead of getting opted out by default. It's easy to blame

This is pretty interesting. I got some crap from apple engineers a few years ago when they found out I was stripping resource forks in my WebDAV server. I guess they've turned around.

Those are mostly the drawbacks of JWT, less so using stateless sessions altogether. I found some additional reasons from a page that was linked from that last link here: http://cryto.net/~joepie91/blog/2016/06

Why is this a bad idea exactly? I'm still very interested in the idea of using stateless sessions. Is it just that it's hard to expire sessions server-side, or is there more to it?

I think one of the issues is a very practical one. When everything is called JWT, it's hard for users to figure out whether it's a secure or insecure implementation. It's completely possible to do secure things with JWT, espe

It's a real problem because a lot of folks do this and it's going to frustrate a few of them. However, this is also a great reminder for everyone to never make up your own TLDs.

This seems super pointless. Their reasons: > 1. Browser performance is slow with <video> Maybe look into ways to make <video> fast? > 2. You can’t right click and save video I never had an issue with this... But if Safari

It seems a bit crazy that for a new image format, developers need to rely on an operating system shipping an API, instead of depending on an (open-source?) library.
