"All that is needed to advance these already in play promotions is a disinformation Pearl Harbor event." That was the 2016 US presidential election, pretty clearly.

Ah, so the next stage would have been to add a "bug" in xz that would trigger during the supposedly sandboxed execution, when presented with certain input files. Clever.

I wonder why it was useful to prevent Landlock from being enabled in xz. Perhaps a later stage was to inject malicious content into xz archives? But then why not just inject malicious activity in xz itself?

Being able to build a competitor is always an option, no matter the license. It's a question of what they use as the starting point.

The article is wrong. Non-Affero GPL would not prevent a networked services company from keeping modifications proprietary, as there would be no distribution to activate the license. Use over a network triggering license activation is the

It's probably pretty easy for anyone here to get Technician, and probably General. I'd expect a large number could get Extra, and probably in one sitting. So you're right, you could use ham radio, but it does require a licens

It's really weird that there's a giant, Microsoft-shape gap in the pattern of all the recent FTC enforcement actions.

Yes. If they shipped it with Linux, they should support it with Linux. At least the version they shipped you. If it fails to suspend properly, have them fix it. System integration is their job, not yours.

Maybe. Patents are certainly a question, because of the license. Microsoft has definitely been aggressive about patents.

It still wasn't that great back then. Even APM was wonky. Even back then, there was a tonne of firmware, and bugs got worked around in (Windows-only) drivers and INF files. The amount of firmware has since exploded , and it's got
