I've heard of it. I don't think having over-authoritarian discuplinarianism is ideal. It's probably a backlash to schools not having enough funding or resources to deal with the assaults and the fighting, so they do the exact

I only said it 3 times. I don't mean to say that everything should be authoritarian. But to maintain a good school for the students who go to a non-authoritarian school, there still needs to be some degree of punishment, or expulsions.

I think you're giving them a little too much credit. Plenty of disruptive kids have a perfectly fine home life, have an iPhone, get expensive toys or technology bought for them. A lot of them are just jerks who were never punished by t

Do you have a picture of what that looked like? I'm curious. When I search for it, I can only find pictures of normal Windows XP and older versions of Windows. I can only imagine it looking like Windows 95 again.

I guess that makes sense. RISC-V assembly doesn't actually seem that difficult to hand write, especially given that pseudo-instructions exist. I don't see why you wouldn't just write in C, though, aside from a few functions w

In languages without this feature (most of them), you sometimes see long blocks get labeled at the end anyway. On the other hand, you could argue that if your block is long enough it doesn't fit on the screen, then it should be its own

That corroborates what I've read. The DEC PDP-11 assembler used the @ symbol for dereferences of registers ("@Rn" or "(Rn)" dereferenced a register, for example). However, in Unix, the terminal convention was to use

I wasn't around for it, but didn't C grow fast during the 70s and 80s? And didn't Java and JavaScript also spread pretty fast? Of course, Java was explicitly promoted and advertised by Sun, and JavaScript played off of Java&#

Though LLVM seems like it best maps the semantics of a language like C++, there's a fairly diverse lot of languages with LLVM backends, including Common Lisp, Haskell, Scala, and Swift.

It seems like the main problem, for implementers of languages significantly different to C and C-like languages, is that LLVM doesn't offer direct access to hardware registers or the stack, and it has built-in calling conventions. (Alt

Yeah, old C compilers would only look at the first 6 characters of a name, and the rest were insignificant. That's how you get nanrs like "strcpy" and "malloc" instead of something like "string_copy" or &q
