Is there a way to determine how miles per kWh would change with different batteries in currently sold EVs? Would it be fair to say like half the weight but same energy content means double the distance per kWh

So suppose a car had methane and oxygen onboard like a rocket and held on to its exhaust products, and you were able to reverse the reaction back to methane and oxygen, it would be a battery not a fuel cell.

Any thoughts on OpenPilot? I’ve been hearing good things but would be cool to do a comparison.

Good point. I think the hopeful next step would be looking at efficiency of EVs, miles per kWh (of course not counting public transport)

The book is of course excellent, but this post may be a bit too tautological in itself.

"In 2021, the 21-page Corporate Transparency Act was tucked into a sweeping 1,482-page defense bill passed by Congress over President Donald Trump’s veto." How?

Well thats fine imo but my issue is just usability. I dont want to give my personal cell to twitter and the account I made constantly gets locked out. I like how threads bluesy and mastodon you can just browse without logging in

Agreed. Another take has always been china doesn’t have environmental regulations so they can go faster. Is this true? on the face of it I don’t believe it because the insane cost differential would be like 10% cheaper Chinese evs not 50%.

If someone this super smart finds it inconvenient to post on his own blog or other social networks, it’s hard to argue with the network effect. Twitter is here to stay forever.

No the neck strength isn’t always there for kids to last a bumpy stroller run before six months. And this is from someone who went stir crazy and really wanted to do it. Sure, but really no benefit to baby and only risk so why do it unless

What “benefits” does a baby get from a family friend kiss? In this anti-vax world there are huge risks. I read on a running forum in 2021 that a mom took a 5mo old on a run saying “babies have been around for millenia and they are fine.” Th

I expected more from this article. Sure they are boring but in the new market Kona EV, ID.4, Leaf, and as mentioned Bolt EV/EUV are all very good deals, and the only compromise is infrequent road-tripping, and this is totally ignoring

Anecdotally a kid in my high school maxed out Princeton math undergrad classes by 9th grade and was offered admission to MIT at tenth grade. He took it. Not sure where he is now but he seemed normal enough at the time.

Getting close to Mother Theresa reasoning there in my opinion. Replicators a la Star Trek tech and availability would save a lot of lives and bring happiness to billions of people.

I gotta say I appreciate the enthusiasm of this venture. It’s great to be excited about more efficiency. But I’m really anxious about whether it will be done without screwing over poor people, raising technical debt, or sacrificing long ter

Sadly this is wishful thinking. But I must push back against the “corruption”. NASA cannot allocate its own resources by design. It’s all from congress who happily will pour money into jobs in their districts.

Tesla still gets tax credits and NEVI funds. One side accuses govt of favoritism and corruption and are trying hard to make that true. The truth is most people try to do the right thing.
