Agreed. You will have sales cycles of > 1 year, with references, demonstrations, visits, proof of concept delivery, tenders etc etc.. It's hell.

That's pretty impressive. The demo needs a better loading screen (applets can do that you know, http://weblogs.java.net/blog/joshy/archive/2008/08/a_better_... ). What is Mobiquus? Mobiquus is a push-mail application for your mobile phone.

I'm not saying I would do it :) You said it couldn't be done, I disagree. I do think it's something people want too. Distraction is a huge problem on the web. I know it's not what you want being an ad supported business, but I do believe so

User generated content. Users classify links as ads after getting fooled, preventing other users from seeing it. You could also scan all outbound links and check to see if content (actual content) is the same without the parameters (e.g. my

Sorry. I disagree entirely [assuming you think advertisers would win]. It would be like spyware vs spyware blocking, viruses vs virus scanners. Except that legit businesses couldn't do anything illegal, and thus far easier to manage. And, c

So you are saying it's impossible? I don't see it. There are always methods to block ads, e.g. user-classification, preloading of content, alteration of flash, domain tracing... Edit: This could be thought of like an analogy to spyware dete

I agree it's unlikely, especially as that would likely kill firefox's revenue stream. I have often thought that a plugin like trackmenot that clicks random ads would be another thing that could destroy advertising. The thing is, people thou

This seems to be a very unpopular opinion around here. There have been few web businesses I think of as "wow" as well. This era isn't about the technological innovation (there has been little really in the last few years of software), it's

It wouldn't take much to put a big stop to that. Imagine if adblock came installed by default in 3.2!

Agreed. What practical use is it? While they are at it, they could do the same with email (delayed send for certain tags) that you could easily cancel the sending. Also, "did you mean to cc everyone on your list, this is frowned upon" type

That must have been fun. Was there anything really groundbreaking going on that hasn't ever seen the light of day, without breaking your NDA of course :)

I'm not sure if what you are saying is that creative people should give their stuff away and suffer until the off chance they get popular and get paid? Just because you want to get their stuff for free? There was no such thing as medical tr

The second article notes that for most modern webservers for those not using a modem (really, they still have those?) it should be faster. And this: "Firefox will only send a maximum of 8 HTTP requests at a time in any case" - really? Anyon

The non-software patents were critical. This isn't patenting a button clicking method. It's more similar in utility and specificity to pagerank. It has been a huge R&D effort over the last few years. We could just keep it secret. But I

You need a cofounder who can take care of the ramen goal so you can focus on what you love best. The point of your business isn't to do it all yourself, it is to do something you love. If you find founders with complementing skill sets, it'

Can you explain what you think is causing the reduction? Could you make the space more attractive for advertisers (e.g. decrease cost, increase space etc)?
