There was certainly a period of time where folks like AT&T alongside Juniper and Cisco drove BGP into crazytown by way of MPLS and VPN related features. Terrifyingly complex (imo) but lucrative for some.

MercuryOS jumped out at me too, digging around the site I really started to imagine using it. It does not appear to have gone beyond the design (which was where the creators intended to stop it seems). It's a re-imagining of HCI than a

I worked with a boutique management consulting company part time during college in 98/99. Notes and Domino came packaged with a few IBM servers they bought. I was tasked with setting it up for email. It was fun exploring the system, ab

Philosophy degrees can be designed in this way. Various “philosophy of X” courses to explore. Logic and theory of computation are typically found here.

In the mid-90s there was a fun and short period of time where IRC clients like mIRC could be set to auto-receive files through DCC.. and would happily write to names like LPT1 (which of course would just write the data directly to the recip

Careful. Excluding open source, sharing code from a former or current employer sends a signal about how you're likely to handle the prospective employer's IP.

All of the x86 assembly (see arch and boot/x86 dirs..) and any x86 assumptions being made elsewhere in the rest of the code is where the work is.

There is also a UI/UX problem on mobile, the buttons can easily be fat fingered. There'd be a nice externality to this extra step.

This is not true Edit: trying to reverse engineer the “magic”, architecture, and the failure from a varnish error message is folly, and misleads others. How do I know the comment is patently false? I ran those teams at Fastly for 3 years.

Jameco was stocking the TI 68k earlier this year. Not certain what the author’s motivations were, but I picked one up after playing with the 6502 (their choice of vasm and the eeprom programmer are the same Ben Eater took off the shelf, coi

Ah yes. The Mark Currie zone. Going all the screens to the right and shooting a hole in the hill and flying through it got you re-armed. And don’t hit the text, it’s quite solid.

Beautiful book, and incredibly lucid. Gave me a useful intuition on infinitesimals that never quite came out in the various standard calc texts. Second to this imo is Serge Lang’s A Short Introduction to Calculus.

Yes, that’s been a frustration for me. I’ve settled on the Motorola 6847 which requires a couple supporting chips. This is scavenging parts off eBay though, which seems to be a plentiful source. I’ll find out shortly whether any of them are

I’ve been working through Ben’s videos on the 6502 since September. It’s been a highly enjoyable way to relax and learn for me. It’s very easy to go beyond what he’s teaching. There’s so much material out there (6502.org for instance). The
