YAML is most certainly typed. Just because there a few human-oriented convenience words that you have to be aware of, does not make it “string-ish”. In fact YAML is actually truly typed using “!” tag, where as others like JSON which you say

Super speedy. It is in fact about half the speed of C. It has a GC so that’s probably the main slow down, but hey, no memory errors or raking your brain over a barrow checker.

I’ve been thinking about a similar idea for years after studying how qwerty came to be. FYI I once came across a very old “how to type manual” which said your fingers should rest on the top row. That explains a lot. And suggests why somethi

Well that’s very interesting because one of the latest ideas getting traction on solving the information paradox is exactly this — that black holes are connected to each other and the outside space by wormholes. Check out the current Scien

That this can even be done is absolutely atrocious. I heard about security issues related to fonts and wondered “how in the world”. This helps clarify why. It simply should not be possible.

I haven’t read the whole article yet, but I’m guessing it boils down to a Halting Problem? And I assume if a Turing machine can’t, neither can a human. If that is not the case, something smells fishy in Denmark.

Will be very useful for dual led/eink displays. Stack a transparent led display on top of an eink display and you have the best of both worlds.

It is amazing what people do with C64s. It’s like the ultimate hacker computer. I’m waiting for someone to make a 1Ghz / 64GB model.

One downside of ASCII is the lack of two extra “letters” (whatever they might be, e.g. perhaps German ß), as it makes it impossible to represent base 64 alphanumerically. So we ended up with many alternatives picking two arbitrary punctuati

My company just bought a used Olympus microscope. It requires Word to generate metrology reports. So apparently it runs Word behind the scenes. Is that considered a headless mode? Unfortunately M$ Word is the only option. Can’t say I’m happ

We just need a new word to mean “0-indexed count of centuries”. Not sure what a good word for this would be, but maybe just use what we already say — “hundreds”. So, in the late 17th hundreds, …

I like where this is going. Imagine the evolution of this. One day we may just feed a browser data with some metadata and it will generate the layout and all.

You can still do this. Hey, you could even use a Raspberry Pi as a terminal. Not sure how the advent of Wayland changes things, but I would hope its creators would have the good sense to still make it possible.
