The shotgun approach that both FirefoxOS and Ubuntu Phone took saddens me - I think they could have done very well had they focused on acquiring power/niche users instead of trying to be a mass-market consumer product from the get-go.

Yeah, I can understand how that's confusing. I meant to convey two things: 1. I mean to imply that it was a waste - they created a bunch of controversy, and for what? If they were not committed to Unity for the long-haul, they should n

Please see my comment here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13590456 . The concern is that the indirect effect of the unilateral removal of XUL-support from Firefox without a viable alternative will be detrimental to th

Seeing many comments to the effect, "This doesn't concern me because I don't rely on any XUL-base extensions." It's great if this change isn't going to affect you, but I'd ask you to ask yourself what if i

Ideally, I would have chosen a more FLOSS solution for this petition; however, time constraints led me to choose change.org. I totally understand your privacy concerns and applaud your choice to choose not to sign vs. doing something you fe

That's great, but realistically how are non-FF devs supposed to take part in this discussion? There are many users who will be affected by these changes but are not being given any voice in them because of the way Mozilla has handled t

I agree that Mozilla has been doing that from the developer side of things; however, I would wager that most users not in Bugzilla/on the dev mailing lists are unaware of the coming changes and how they might be affected. I'm a pr

FWIW, I created a petition here to see if we can get Mozilla to reconsider this decision: https://www.change.org/p/mozilla-save-mozilla-firefox-s-best... . May be a Hail May, but worth a shot if we as Firefox users real

Wondering if the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to the changes that the Obama administration is proposing? IOW, what about the way that the internet is currently run is broken or warrants these chan
