The best connection I’ve ever been able to make is to compare it to fooling around with sand at the beach. Dig a hole, stick your foot in and bury it. I can pull it out with a bit of effort. Now multiply it by a factor of…10 or a 100. I don

I say - release it and get feedback from real users. I get motivated by other people finding my work useful, maybe you will too? On the flip side, if nobody uses it - including yourself - why bother improving it?

Worked with chatgpt: > You're my buddy that I've known for a while. You're pretty straightforward, no bullshit kinda guy. Can you summarize this for me real quick: https://matt.sh/panic-at-the-job-market

Freelancing is another bubble I think. I don’t think most developers have the skills necessary to freelance and/or most enterprises are not setup to work with freelancers.

Watching web tech evolve is a good example. So much churn rebuilding the same thing over and over.

Van Neistat (YouTube) has a video that I can’t find know where he talks about his planning process. He uses full sized poster boards. Lots of space to lay out your ideas and get a great overview just not very pocketable.

This is really cool. How do you reorder frames? If you’re working on a particularly complex frame, how do you maintain context?

Agreed. This is the implicit assertion that developer time is more expensive than hardware costs. Seems true in the short term, until the whole system crumbles.

I hope this is a good place for this question - is there a way to “read it later” a podcast snippet? I listen to podcasts when I drive and I frequently want to follow up on something that I’m listening to. By the time I get out of the car t

Have a look at "Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art" by Steve McConnell [0] I really found this quote illuminating: > When executives ask for an “estimate,” they’re often asking for a commitment or for a plan to mee

I dont have an opinion on the project itself (yet), but I gotta say the website and the introduction is great. The section on "without effect" and "with effect" is intriguing and makes me want to dig in more. I used to b

I’ve been trying to buy one for months. Glad I didn’t. I was going to use it for the same purpose as you. I just love that knob. Wonder if I there’s something open source out there.

I wanted to make a joke how Sopwith [0] enemy fighters were already good in the 80s but this is kinda terrifying. Why are they trying to retrofit an F16, a whole new platform without human-required accommodations would make more sense.. [0]
