So I have a question about the audio at the beginning of the video. How low is LEO and how much atmosphere is there? You know, the whole sci-fi movie trope with lasers making noise in space?

That's fascinating. Is it possible for you to share more details? Industry? Tech stack? If your project started 30 years ago, that means DOS, or Network or maybe one of the IBM behemoths? Then the maintenance includes pacing OS updates

This is really cool, thanks for sharing. What's wild to me is that the program started in the late 90s and only now is the F35 fleet up to originally specified? operational capacity. Since then I graduated high school, got a degree, go

As a user, after using emacs for the past couple of years this is where emacs shows its age vs the “newcomers”. Every once in a while the whole UI is blocked when a long running task is invoked. Still, I love using emacs.

Stand ups suck, long live stand ups. It's like any other meeting, signal to noise ratio is quite low, but what's the alternative? I love remote work, hope to never go back into an office, but humans are social animals. I feel like

This caught my eye, total employees - 2022: 190,234 - 2023: 182,502 Total increase in revenue of 10 billion. Not sure what conclusion to draw from this, but being a software engineer I found employment count interesting. Though 5% change in

It’s a tool you use for hours on end though. Optimizing it would compound over years and decades, no? Chefs sharpen their knives, right?

I’ve learned “slow is smooth and smooth is fast” from shooting sports, but I find it applies equally well to most (all?) areas of life. When I started driving, I used to speed to the next stop light, change lanes frequently. I stopped doing

Layoffs and offshoring. of course I have a personal stake in this :) I'm not saying that there's no talent overseas, precisely the opposite. Offshoring has been tried since the 90s and it works to some extent. I expect (hope) thin
