I don't think this is as egregious as this person seems to think. A 1 year commitment paid in monthly installments, is exactly how a lease works.

I think this only works if both parties have similar financial situations? ie if the shares are "truly" worth 50K but one party can only come up with 10K, then an offer of 11K would allow the other to buy up the shares at a massiv

This was really cool project and a great writeup! It's interesting to think what would happen if a tool / technique like this one became super popular. Would we see more variation, as more people could choose schemes that look goo

I think there is clearly a problem of inequality of opportunity in America, and Affirmative Action is probably a necessary bandaid to heal the legacy of slavery and racism. However based on the evidence presented, the admission policies at

Yeah I'm not saying I'm above it, I'm saying that this type of subconscious bias is far more damaging than "deep fakes". But that doesn't generate clicks so the media doesn't care.

Oh I totally agree that people can and do make snap judgements based on superficial appearance - my point was actually that this judgement is a more real and damaging threat to society than deep fakes, which IMO is mostly media driven pearl

Not that strange. Sirens in NYC are largely directional, and you can hear the noise diminish dramatically once you are no longer in the path of the vehicle. The same is not true of loud cars/motorcycles. Also sirens (mostly) serve a ne

The HN crowd is always quick to point out that Peloton has no moat - its just a screen on a bike. Creating a lifestyle brand (ala in person fitness brands like Soulcycle or Barrys) is a way to address that moat, and apparel is a core part o
