"The new SE lasted nearly an hour longer on 4G than on 5G, while the new iPad Air and iPhone 13 Mini went for about 1.5 additional hours. And while the iPhone 13 Pro ran a remarkable 12 hours and 50 minutes on 5G, it still lasted about

Just about everything he ate changed, but he didn’t eliminate carbs. He ate homemade pizza with no cheese, crackers, pretzels… The mix absolutely included fewer processed foods, but pretzels out of a bag are processed, no? He looks forward

My dad (62) just had big heart attack in January. 100% blockage in a vein covering 60%+ of his heart. The surgeon who put his stent in called his EKG “impressive”. He’s never eaten very well or exercised much, and the Mediterranean diet was

I thoroughly enjoyed his Revisionist History podcast on this and the book it bore that received the same audio treatment: https://books.apple.com/us/audiobook/the-bomber-mafia-a-drea...

I've (M1/16GB MBA) got my usual 40+ tabs open and Brave is only using 536MB of memory. It's rock solid. I use G-Suite/Workplace and everything has been buttery smooth since I turned off Brave's crypto/BAT notif

My lid-closed panic issue would magically disappear when I turned off Bluetooth (I used Apple’s own Magic Trackpad and keyboard as part of my desktop setup).

Eventually my 1TB/16GB Air gave me a kernal panic almost every time I closed the lid ~overnight. It took a clean restore from scratch to fix (restoring MacOS then restoring from a backup didn’t solve it!). It was a pain but it’s so fas

I clung to my AirPort Extreme for years, and then an Eero Pro 5 almost 10x’d my peak bandwidth. I felt like an idiot for not changing sooner. A set of three is like ~$250 on eBay now. I don’t think the 6’s are necessary unless you have/

The City of Austin actually sent me a check (~$100 I think?) YEARS ago for opting into this when I first installed my Nest thermostat. It’s very transparent/obvious and easy to override when a rush hour activates (usually between 4 and

I bought a 16GB M1 Air to try it out and I’ve barely touched my 32GB MacBook Pro since. It’s usually at 11-12GB, even with plenty of multitasking (including 3 browsers and Adobe PS/ID/AI). You get spoiled fast by the responsivenes

I got to meet their small core team in 2008 at SXSW (I was already a fan of earlier versions). They were young, with one 40ish exec in tow, and had just got their expen$ive new letter-pressed, laser-cut square business cards. I remember fee

As an FYI I’ve really enjoyed (Austin-based) Matt Risinger’s home building channel on YouTube [1] recently. He often discusses efficient building trends and materials. You think about your R-value much harder when it’s 9°F outside... [1] h

I thought I was Chicken Little buying my first masks (P100 respirators) in January 2020. I bought a couple more fancy ones in Feb. Days later, decent masks disappeared—those had to last me the rest of 2020. Around November(?), Powecom masks

I was curious just how many chips per wafer they net. From this 2018 article[1], it appears to be ~530 at 5nm, which would be $32ea if that yield is accurate. The same article estimated 7nm chips came out to $18ea. Apparently, R&D spend

I’ve had the slim 45W RavPower one since June and it’s great. It’s almost startling how small it is. I much prefer it in the bag for coffee shop trips, etc. I use it with my 15” MBP and I haven’t seen any power issues with plenty of Chrome
