I can restate what I said again for you: I can generate noise that makes the Hamming distance or whatever metric you prefer arbitrarily large without changing the contents noticeably.

Yes, they have. Consider being more careful with your tone in talking to strangers online, you come across as arrogant.

Why is this so surprising? This is something people have been doing for decades in most welfare societies.

I think you're overestimating the capabilities of neural networks here, and especially ones that we know the exact weights for. It is fairly trivial to generate invisible noise that makes an input image get an entirely different hash.

Edit: I did find it, but only because somebody else pointed it out. Guess I suck at reading. Also search for "derivative" failed to find it. This thread was good https://twitter.com/fayfiftynine/status/14

You have misunderstood. NeuralHash is the visual derivative. Read [1] carefully, it's a very confusing document even for experts - nowhere is there a second step to this process where some second type of "visual derivative"

So the naysayers were right all along, from the original repository uncovering the "NeuralHash" private APIs: > Resizing the image yields same hash, even down to below 200x100. Cropping or rotating the image yields different ha

This seems like a fairly negative assessment of the facts. I think many people turn to online dating voluntarily, not as some sort of last ditch effort to find a partner. Au contraire, the people I found in the typical settings where you me

The fact that you're talking about probabilities sort of proves my point. You're instead saying it could be worse, and I'm saying random execution times in your critical paths is generally undesirable. It depends on your appl

Ulrich took it personally, thinking it was somebody stealing from him. I'm convinced Metallica would have faded to irrelevance far earlier if people hadn't downloaded their music. A lot of musicians still think this way, "I s

They do in fact not have erratic behavior, they are quite predictable. The cuckooing process, on the other hand, is not predictable by design.

Sure, asymptotic time complexity only says anything about the asymptotic behavior. On the other hand, I have had far more cases of things blowing up due to cubic or even quadratic time complexities than I have for linear; linear is what you

Good news then, it’s also linear time like the marginally faster but enormously grotesque for loop provided previously. I would take that clarity of intent a hundred times over squeezing a couple of comparisons out.

It's easy to see why they wouldn't reintroduce power user tools once removed. It's sucky, but all mass-market tech is like this, constantly adapting to fit some lowest common denominator. Power users just aren't that.

GP may be saying that senior devs tend to s---t all over people's code. I've certainly seen it happen. But I think that's more of a personality trait (well, lack of empathy) than anything else.

I have a few qualms with this app: 1. For a Linux user, you can already build such a system yourself quite trivially by getting an FTP account, mounting it locally with curlftpfs, and then using SVN or CVS on the mounted filesystem. From Wi

Excuse my ignorance, but how do you achieve this? There needs to be some institution that is always ready to buy the coin for $1 a piece, and ready to sell coin for $1 a piece.
