There are so many sleights of hand type maneuvers you can pull to moderate sitewide. Tiktok, for example, bans LBTQ content not outright but just sets some flag in their database that ascertains the posts never go viral. Control the medium,

Control over media platforms is basically control over the agenda in democracies. It is worth a lot of money.

A lot of these people would much rather live in what you disparagingly call a minimum security prison than the comparative anarchy of what we call freedom. Freedom to get stabbed if I don’t give the junkie my belongings. I don’t think well

That’s a good subtitle for my PhD thesis. “Novel but disappointing”.

That’s a ratio of near twice what the article recommends, it’s really weak. And I don’t make it like this for guests because it’s too weak. Well, maybe okay for Americans.

I pour about 1500 ml water over about 50 grams of coffee. It’s fine. It tastes good for some time. What makes coffee taste especially bad is just sitting out. It gets sour and real bitter.

Like others have noted, it is actually harder to read and grok the code when your function is able to do literally anything. Before, you got what you saw. After, the callback might as well set off WW3 for all you know. This fits poorly with

Correct, in Stockholm for example, it is absolutely not as simple as “investors turn away”, far from it. In fact, they did build housing. Luxury housing that doesn’t solve the problem at all. Student apartments that are so expensive to live

Rent control is not the cause. These suburbs you correctly identify as undesirable would not become more palatable just because landlords were allowed to extract extortionate rents from an inherently limited supply resource. What you sugges

Doctors are no better or worse than car mechanics. Some are meticulous and think about the end result, others follow Mitchell’s or whatever and feel threatened whenever customers try to tell them what they think is wrong.

I find this an unconvincing argument as well, you're saying that because Apple made a false claim, any claim may be valid. This is obviously not the case, what they did was to, albeit likely knowingly, calculate the hash collision prob

You (or at least Apple's customers) trust in and rely on Apple's proprietary software to do its job all the time. How is this different? I find this argument very weak.

The point in the NeuralHash and PSI system is to preserve user privacy as far as possible. From a technical standpoint, it is not essential - a NeuralHash function that returns 0x0000… for everything would still catch CSAM. It's just t

Sigh, for the last time, it doesn't actually matter if the NeuralHash is identical. You need multiple images matching, and then the images are compared by another system on Apple's end, which you don't know anything about. Th
