People want to consume their content, nowhere does that dictate that they sign away their rights and actual ownership of their devices that they buy with their own money. The already existing DRM is user hostile, it is about control and not

The browser is becoming a TV. In the future, computers with keyboards and actual user control will be specialty devices for experts, quite separated from the content you can access today. It is really sad to see what humankind is about to l

I think they work well as long as they're reasonably specific, reposting the famous HN Dropbox comment also works pretty well on HN. Other redditisms don't fare so well, and for that I'm thankful.

If we use HK as the model for how Taiwan will be occupied, then it seems that it will be through political process. I’m not sure if the Taiwanese system is as weak as the HK setup was, but if anybody is able to find a hole, it would be the

The reason you didn’t like those people is that somewhere deep inside you knew it could be you in ten years. I had the same thoughts, and came to the same insight. It’s a lot like how you dislike the people who remind you of your bad qualit

If you went back in time to the sixties and said you spent several months disposable income on an electronic device that you only expect to work for a couple of years with zero ability to repair, they would think you were mad. The current s

In Swedish, vik is bay. Gut isn’t Swedish at all*. Kaka isn’t pronounced like caca, it’s the A sound of law in the first syllable. Jerker is just a name, surely not limited to Sweden. *It can be “related to Gotland” I guess but that’s a str
