I consider a project dead once I feel that's "better" (whatever it means in the specific context) to invest my time in something else. Or if I feel that I'm not able to scale/grow it more than it is.

This was (probably still is) exactly my mistake...being able to survive is by no means related to "I'm recovered and happy to commit to something new" And after 2 years of surviving, I feel that I lost a lot of time

We've had the same problems - we didn't need all the overhead of kubernetes. Have you seen BeeKube? https://beekube.cloud It is a managed container platform, similar to a paas but with containers

Actually, HakunaCloud works on cloud servers, not containers. With Kubernetes you pay for the worker nodes, not for running containers. HakuaCloud starto&stop cloud servers, so you actually pay only for the time the servers are needed
