Hi George. Have you seen RoboCop? A free market survival-of-the-fittest gets us closer to a dystopian 1984-like society. Overregulation will also do that. Regulation isn't exactly at odds with freedom. One could certainly regulate free

Next phone I'm buying won't be able to run android if I can help it. Verify that. (edit: and it definately won't be an iphone, although that would fit the description above, those only run non-free software by design)

Better tooling for kpatch would be nice tho IIRC canonical makes patches for official ubuntu kernels but acts like a Chinese restaurant (closed kitchen, orders come in through a small hatch behind the counter)

Article reads just like AI slop. The point is probably valid but the writing style gets annoying.

IIRC, since GCC got covered by GPL3. It used to be slower and I've spent way too much time working around C++ bugs in GCC 2.95 (The fact that I remember the problematic version is telling :)

I think it would be reasonable to deprecate af_alg in favor of a character device. It's more accessible that way. The downside is that the maintainers hate adding new ioctls. I think that's fair. But I don't think a "reg

Why does everything have to be "actively developed"? Sometimes a program is just done . Better not touch it. I actually do downgrade packages when "actively developing" causes regressions. Not curl or anything sensitive

If you mean the presentation layer, hard disagree. Not thinking about presentation creates problems. For example, Go treating ASCII headers as UTF-8 caused trouble. Only slightly not worrying about an HTTP/2 vs HTTP/1.1 mismatch c
