I'll change my mind if you show me a higher power and that higher power personally tells me that humans are inherently special. No prophets, no texts, no metaphors, no sunsets. A personal meeting with a God. Considering the Christian G

It usually boils down to religion. I don't think converting people to atheism has a high ROI.

Anyone that believes humans are inherently special will always believe that and their mind cannot be changed. Debating with them is a waste of time.

I wish people would stop saying GPUs when they mean Nvidia GPUs. It’s like saying you’ve made a product for cars, but then it turns out it’s only for Mercedes cars.

For LLM inference, a shoutout to MLC LLM, which runs LLM models on basically any API that's widely available: https://github.com/mlc-ai/mlc-llm

Godot and Unreal aren't really competing in a lot of areas. No one's going to make movies using Godot any time soon, for example. Unreal's rendering is just so far ahead of the pack.

Technically CEOs are also working class, since they mostly live off of their salary. A lot of this is voluntary, since with a bit less spending I'd imagine most BigCo CEOs could easily cope on capital income from the investments their

It’s not a technical product so much as a legal one. Just keep on using Rustc+Cargo. If Volkswagen or Framatome wants you to write software for them, then you can transition to these blessed versions of the official tooling. And you’ll have

https://veloren.net/ I'm a bit impartial since I'm a former contributor, but I think it's super cool. Aside from that, the Bevy game engine also uses wgpu on non-web, but afaik no game of particular significa

Yup, wgpu is already a thing. While it's ironically widely used on desktop, it's less mature in the browser context. Like, there is an open-world 3D MMORPG using wgpu for its graphics, meanwhile it's not yet enabled on stable

Well, I'd like it to respond in something close to real-time, and since I have a pretty good non-Nvidia GPU, it makes more sense to wait for the WebGPU port.

As sad as it is, this is true. AMD has never spent lots of money on software, while Nvidia always has, which was fine for traditional graphics, but with ML this really doesn't cut it. AMD could have ported Pytorch to OpenCL or Vulkan o

Not a big fan of how server-centric the LLM landscape is. I want something that can run locally, and doesn't require any special setup. One install + one model import maximum. Currently unless I want to go clone git repos, install Pyth

Redox is IMO trying to do too much at once. I'm not sure about Essence, but this seems to be a common failing of new OS efforts. A new kernel would be a monumental achievement. Even a new windowing system would be awesome. Reinventing

A big issue is that it doesn’t currently replace the old webtech, but instead just adds to it. You can’t use WASM in the browser without also using JS, which is unfortunate.

It’s because all the verbs are ill-defined in the context of AI. All it boils down to is “I don’t like LLMs”. You could say that LLMs can know, learn, and understand, and you’d be just as correct, just with opposite vibes.

This is it. Having broken stuff by upgrading myself, I can say it does not make you popular. This is especially the case if what the upgrade did was tighten up some bug that it turns hid a bug in your team's code...

Is there a cloud provider that is IPv6-first? Or do they all have the same problems?

▲

It's not that people dislike IPv6 or like IPv4, it's that network people are comfortable with IPv4 and all the extra tech surrounding it. They know it works, so there's no technological risk. There's nothing new to learn

I’ve wondered about this for a long time: Why not Flutter? Should give you one codebase for all platforms, while being significantly faster than webtech-based solutions.
