Personally, I see no problem with Airbnb and I think the government forcing you to be licensed is bad. Airbnb has a review system for a reason. If it’s a shitty place, you write a review and other people will be less inclined to rent. I’ve

I call bullshit. Take housing in China. You can buy a place in China, but making money off of it with rent? Good luck. It’s a common problem that people who can afford to buy a place, can’t rent it for a profit if they are still paying a mo

This is interesting. I’m a veteran and know first hand how terrible the system can be. I’ve taight myself JavaScript and have recently learned Django with my current position. I don’t have any plans to leave the company now, but working on

Same thing has been said about guns. And data collection. And the government using data to spy on us. It doesn’t matter if you have mortal enemies, or if you aren’t doing bad things, or if it matters if the government spies on you. What mat

I’ll check it out. I’m still trying to find a way we can protect ourselves though. The best I can come up with is (at home) a droppable net that covers your windows that has a current running through it. Maybe something similar for a person

I’m gonna have to say I disagree. We are already making tiny drones the size of bees. And you don’t need that size to make a reliable, one shot bomb to kill someone. Anyone with time, a bit of money, and a plan can make a swarm of drones to

I’ve brought up this eventuality countless times in the past couple of years (including recently mentioning this in my software company). I don’t think people are realizing the dangers to minitrization and ease of manufacturing small drones

Bah. Dumb article. All phones are hard to use. Nothing is really mechanically intuitive anymore, except for some well-designed mechanical things. Phones can only go so far to give use good, mechanical intuitiveness. Press a button, see what

Big pc towers are awesome, but bad for the common traveler like myself. I move every year depending on the contract, and I try to keep the luggage to a minimum.

Your biggest hurdle is lack of collaboration, as pointed out in your own words. I’m a semi-freelancer. I have a long term contract with a company , and it’s my first big contract. I get the feeling of being an imposter. I overcome it by con

I think this is kinda funny. Talks about this "hidden debt", talks about the huge debt the USA has, and so on and so on. And what happens? In the end, I really wonder if any of it actually matters. The people suffer because of thi

Well, you are correct. GDP alone isn’t going to make people happy. Different policies, etc help. America has so much discontent because of certain policies that have made our country worse over time. Health care, world view, etc.

Not surprising. Product managers are typically part of the Profit section of a company. Software engineers are a Cost, even though without them a company wouldn’t even get off the ground these days.

Well, this isn’t exactly true. You can repair your own phones, you just need the right tools. China is well known for this. Repair shops that have the right tools (vacuum heating chambers, etc) are able to take apart and repair phones.

But there are also a ton of people using real or just as good parts to repair their macs. Those people, who can’t afford a non-warranty repair at Apple, will be hurt the most. It’s especially true in east Asia. Yes, there are plenty of coun

Funny how this story comes out shortly after Apple announced you can’t fully repair the newest MacBook pros and iMac pros without their software for “security sake”. Coincidence? Yeah probably, and very tin-foil hat, but who knows?
