Personally I find Jetbrains IDE, Phpstorm specifically, very snappy. Much better than VSCode in performance. I few years ago I managed to run Phpstorm on a ASUS Eeebook with an Intel Atom 32 bit 1.3 GHz CPU & 2GB RAM. Not optimal but do

I recently started to code in PureBasic https://www.purebasic.fr/ Works well for creating cross platform GUIs if you can accept the somewhat archaic BASIC dialect it uses.

I can recommended PureBasic. You can call win32 API directly from PureBasic if you need to. Easy to both build and call static and dynamic libraries. https://www.purebasic.com/

When working with a bunch of tabs and cycling thru them and wanting to close some of them based on visual decision means that you have to move your hands much more on macOS than on PC, thus ergonomically bad.

Any more example of arbitrary and limitations of shortcut keys on Windows except close window/application? Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t you switch tabs with ctrl+tab but close a tab with cmd+w on macOS. How is that not arbitrary

If I remember correctly there are generally fewer shortcut keys on macOS than the alternatives. Things like controlling and moving windows is not supported without third party app. Thus macOS is a more mouse centric operating system, but at

Depending on what you are trying to achieve, I also recommend SSE over websockets, especially if all you want is to signal clients when state changes on the server. SSE is a simple protocol that you can easily implement yourself both in the

Even if you have written your application in a specific manner to achieve some technical goal, for Stack Overflow that is performance, you can still have automated testing with end-to-end test or system tests. I prefer that over unit tests

What I find hilarious is that languages like Java & C# is the essence of Object Oriented Programming but if you want to keep things performant you should avoid creating objects.

I like the procedural version of Pascal, with records, procedures and units, however the more modern Pascal that you can find in FreePascal where you have to either inherit or implement a class for any advanced container is cumbersome.

One common marketing gimmick within the JavaScript community is to brand your project "lightweight", just like this project. JavaScripter’s desperately search for that because their ecosystem is the total opposite.
