Am I missing something, but their current 2FA approach supports TOTP doesn't it? At least for me it's OS integrated TOTP codes for 2FA with my AppleID.

This is not, what this is about. This is about running macOS in a docker container on another system - most likely Linux or Windows.

And yet again you confuse monetary "value" (more like exchange value) with value as in there is a use for it.

It baffles me, that the people that are the most cryptocurreny-enthusiast are the ones most likely to confuse the proof for a _usecase_ of a technology with the sheer _price_ development a digital token on a completely volatile market. Wha

I find this article very trivializing with regards to his views and wonder why this ends up on the HN front page. In his writings he very much wrote about races, deemed the Jews to be ‘destructive‘ and aspired a German state where Jews coul

Interesting! I actually assumed it was simply a self-ironic joke by the author about his metaphor choice. I indeed laughed about this 'joke', but it might not even have been one in the end.

There is so much basic functionality missing in Signal as a chat client, news like this - or e.g. integrating crypto payments with a shady cyrpotcurrency [0] - upset me as it does you. No backups, no drag-n-drop or even pasting support for

The tone of your comment as well as the logic of your argument is so personal and unobjective, my interest in answering is very low. Nobody was talking about horror. This is a very unobtrusive measure that is proven to be effective - not on

With a mask mandate for public transport as the only mass-wide measure, which is not even followed nor enforced too much, I strongly disagree with your wording, that people freak out about it. (Not even arguing about the pro and cons of thi

Two things strike me with this. These expenses for R&D for just this field are HUGE. In my opinion with very little to show for it until now. Second, how are they generating $1,7 billion dollars in revenue from the Metaverse?

This is just at the beginning of the story to be fair. Later on he is mining in his living place and also writes about the electrity cost needing to be covered by the mining revenue.

Soory to be harsh, but advertising hardware features "to give you control over your privacy" for a device that runs Google's tracking-ware OS is questionable to say the least.

Actually I get a different impression. Although the M2 tests have been impressive nonetheless (the M2 being based on the A15 and not on the A14 makes it more the an M1X imho), the issues around throttling and thermals with the MacBook Air m

Yes, this! Without a export/backup function for these data, you could easily lose access to nearly everything and the lock-in effect would also be something currently unseen.

This is disappointing. It has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports but can only drive one external display. So unnecessary, this would be the perfect machine for my home and work setup, but I have 2 external displays in both cases.
