Assuming you're talking about the tech market in particular my observation is that 2020-2022 was an absolutely wild aberration of runaway compensation driven by low interest rates and VC frenzy. In 2024 there are lots of well-paying li

I'm confused about these gram-scale devices that have so many capabilities in board. And is the laser terrestrial or deployed to space?

My oldest is at a pubic STEM school that requires an aptitude test for admission, so maybe a self-selecting bunch, but teachers give kids in-class and at-home assignments that require phones or laptops. Assignments are mostly turned in via

No. But it didn't unfold itself to anyone else either. Shamans have never produced a single falsifiable hypothesis. Reality is exposed but by bit through observation and experimentation. Preferably while sober.

There's only one reality that we're all in all the time.

No one has ever left the normal state of reality. Only perception. Certainly humans have been hallucinating and imagining things forever. Also, lying about your knowledge is a pretty universal human trait. Graham Hancock is proof of that.

Utterly spurious. The toolmarks don't match the experiment and therefore it was another civilization? Just stupid. They may have used a different type of grist for their drills. They may have had a technique for smoothing them after th

I can't find the video, but I recall watching this on TV when I was younger. They found an ancient abandoned quarry site in Egypt (same one?) and brought in someone to test cutting and drilling granite with copper tools and it worked.

Humans have been humans for at least 200K years. And those primitive humans had the same capabilities we do today. But the kind concerted effort and organization required for monumental construction still took hundreds of generations to dev

That theory is espoused by the same people who think it was built by aliens. It's not plausible. Per this study, by the time the Sphinx is built rainfall has already decreased substantially. The rain erosion theory requires the Sphinx

Interesting. I picked it up working with Tobii devices a few years ago actually. I guess they updated their vocabulary.

Could be, but not necessarily. Eye tracking usually means it's tracking the eyes of one or more people in a video. Gaze tracking usually requires your eyes stay pretty steady and close to the tracker.

Quibble but this isn't "eye tracking" it's "gaze tracking". Eye tracking is detecting where your eyes are. Gaze tracking is what you're looking at.

Even before AI, I always considered my work to be like a Tibetan sand painting. As soon I was off the project it may have just been wiped away. Quite a few things I built never launched or never got adoption. You're never guaranteed su

We played with lenticular displays and they are very good and very safe. But like it's just not that useful to have a 3d display. A 2d screen is perfectly good at conveying the same information.

It's not a lack of software per se. It's simply not a very useful form factor. There's a fundamental limitation to what AR can do. Things like occlusion and balancing the brightness of real and projected images is just not so
