Less noise, true. But the grand-grand-parents' point is that some of that noise provides context, which (arguably) improves readability.

I know those are functional concepts, but it feels more like trying to catch up with C# (LINQ) to me.

That's not a fair comparison. What about: IntStream.range(0, 100).filter(i -> i % 2 == 0).collect(Collectors.toList()); Disclaimer: I'm not writing Java nowadays, so this is my quick prototype from a quick google-session, it p

So, I see async/await and they refer to ES7. I think that's cheating a little bit ? I am interested in how they achieved very clean async/await support. I'm assuming they are using some pre-processor. Anyone more into th

WinForms is in maintenance mode. The only updates it gets is to make sure it runs on new versions of Windows & maybe some security related updates. (There still are bugs around, but I think they will not be addressed ever. Fixing those

Currently, if you are on minimal-wage pay, you need to spend all your money on basic necessities. With BI, you increase the purchase power of a whole bunch of poor people. People that didn't live in the city before, now think they have

Are there any studies out there about the second order effects ? If everyone is getting BI, I'm expecting rent to go up. Like, waaaaaaay up. Up to the point where no one can live from BI anymore.

If you are on your own, you are the only one deciding when and how to spend money. You could be perfectly happy living cheap. I'm not sure the regular spouse would agree moving in into that 1-room studio/semi-frat-house and eating

If I would be a car burglar today, airbags would be my target. A pricy item, easy to (re)sell (= DIY looking for replacement parts), not trackable (serial numbers?), probably easy/quick to strip from a car if you know what your doing .

Most shops don't handle a gazillion requests. And if you don't handle a gazillion requests, you don't really care about 20ms downtime while HA proxy is reloading ?

I think you can use -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED to match existing tcp flows. But that builds on conntrack, you could get in trouble if this HA proxy is public facing and handles a gazillion requests ?

Obviously :-) If you're going after basic-auth-headers, you'd probably be sniffing the network. > Authenticate once, generate a token, and use the token for auth from that point. If that token is passed back and forth in the ht

Exactly this. I see that token used - sometimes in the http request header - but most of the time as a param in the GET request, over plain http. Does it even matter if my auth was secure ? I just need to get hold of some access logs and I

For this to work properly, it requires https only, to prevent downgrade attacks (you stated that). Google analytics is also served both over http & https ? Can anyone shine a light on that ?

You would have made a valid point if git wasn't fully distributed. But it is. And every dev has full copy of the repository. This is only a temp DDoS situation ? And you can host your code repository elsewhere. You can even use multipl

Of course is $50M exit a lot better than a failure. My point was: if $50M is your maximum potential - if everything goes perfect - it'd be pretty hard to get some interest from VCs. For their math to work out, they need at least the po
