Yep. You can, of course, make a similar argument for Scheme. But you don't get a very interesting type system out of it. Perhaps I should have written "... nontrivially statically typed."

Not unless you think assembly language or machine code are statically typed.

I made a mistake, believing that `ag` could handle extended glob syntax. The real numbers are: ~/src/racket/racket/share/pkgs$ find . -iname '*.rkt' | xargs ag lambda | wc -l 33589 ~/sr

We will continue to suffer problems like this so long as we continue to use languages which offer machine words in place of general integers.

This is certainly not the case. Some, but by no means all, of the core maintainers prefer the unicode glyph, but the vast majority of the code uses a spelled-out lambda. In my current checkout of the codebase, I see the following: ~&#

They tend not to survive roundtripping well, for example. JSON describes data; comments are metadata. To do them well you'd have to bring them into JSON infoset, such as it is. (ETA: JSON already has problems with canonicalization. Add

Gensym is not enough. There are two kinds of hygiene: avoiding capture by the macro of identifiers used in expressions supplied by the user, and avoiding capture by the user of identifiers supplied by the macro. See http://commun

You might find Mixed Member Proportional an interesting option. It is directly proportional in the party vote and also includes electorate MPs. It does not suffer from some of the strategic voting problems that STV suffers from.

Reminds me of "multitier" programming, which is more focussed on a client/server split, but otherwise a similar idea. See for example http://hop.inria.fr/home/index.html and the extensive research litera

I wonder what dbe0, dbe1, and df{c0-c7} do? They are present and undocumented in all of Intel, AMD and VIA's variations (see p4-p5 of the paper).

This is such a cool idea. One potential application is doing something like F#'s type providers for typed access to a SQL database. You could use `trivial` to get fully typed SELECT statements integrated with Typed Racket. In fact, Ben

If you can step outside the confines of existing desktop environments (i.e. you are writing your own user interface), you can get event streams from each pointer device independently by reading `/dev/input/*`.

In principle, maybe; in practice, currently, no: Scheme requires proper tail calls, and Javascript engines as a rule do not provide them. Yet.
