Then make a full argument, not just implying that "making money from dead school shooting victims" is somehow immoral. Every newspaper does just that! Very low quality comment, not worthy of HN (but of course useful for woke virtu

I’m not 100% familiar with US system but I think it’s quite a bit different. First of all, MedicAid and MediCare, are insurers - so basically, if you’re poor (or old), the state pays for your procedures , not for your insurance . That i

Well, "private". Every resident is required by law to have health insurance, if you can't afford it, the state will pay it for you. Insurance companies cannot reject you. There's a limited list of personal characteristic

Redistribution = socialisation, I see no practical distinction or differences, but I’m open to you clarifying any that I’m missing. I’m not arguing against socialisation of medicine per se (though there are obviously worse (UK) and better

200 vs 220 is likely noise. The recruiter shouldn’t care about tha2, and neither should you. But £200k vs £400k is real! That’s the real span for e.g. hedge funds in London. Actually, it was a few years ago. Probably more now!

Fortunately, we don't need to listen to any "academic economists" (who need to toe the party line) or even internet "experts", we can simply observe reality. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland

what do you mean by "just sits there"? Sits where? In the same position relative to the sun? Relative to the center of the Galaxy? Relative to the local galaxy supercluster? A particle does not just sit still !

I don't understand her comment. This is really easy to verify. You drop an iPhone, the gravity "acceleration" really goes to 0 - so far so good. But at rest (i.e. holding the iPhone in your hand), the acceleration is pointing

Maybe? What about rhesus monkeys ? Note that ketosis != fasting; ketosis == low carb, which can also be induced without fasting (but only by eating a low (near zero) carb diet). So are you sure you're not conflating 2 dimensions ( how

No, read the article I posted. TL;DR: there are 2 monkey studies, with unclear/conflicting results, both had pretty shitty diets, the calorie restrictions were severe, the benefits minimal at best.

“Intermittent fasting and/or caloric restriction extends mice lifespan.” is quite old news. The reason mice are used in labs isn’t because they’re a good model of humans, but because they’re easy to bread and have short lifespans. Stud
