The problem is even deeper than lack of trust/privacy. It's that Meta's business model optimises for the wrong thing. M$ optimises for pleasing employers. Meta & Google optimise for pleasing advertisers. Amazon optimises

Probably because it’s not just the screen/goggles, but the whole ecosystem, i.e. the OS (input, touch, scrolling, mouse, widgets, …) Imagine building this on Windows. It won’t suck less, it’s just suck in 3D.

This is a bit of a stretch. Congress is divided over divisive issues, and unified over other issues. E.g. the first COVID legislation was passed in like 2 weeks. Hardly a sign of "dysfunctional legislators".

It’s actually pretty easy to argue for “equality of opportunity” (i.e. reducing or even making up for an unequal start of life) from a meritocracy viewpoint.

What’s the practical difference though? Someone still decides the book is not gonna be there, mostly for ideological reasons. I guess if you agree with those reasons, it’s “curation”, if you don’t, it’s “banning”.

That is not how the real world works. If a car kills someone (e.g. it explodes, or burns down, or brakes fail) but the manufacturer took all legally required precautions & followed all the rules & regulations, then they're not

Well some people in the UK, and myself, disagree. The purpose of a “brand” is to reduce confusion. So that customers know what they’re buying. So I don’t want to buy “an artificially manufactured food in the category of milk”, I want to buy

I don't see how this is controversial. Imagine Pepsi selling a drink called "not Coca Cola" or Google advertising "not ChatGPT" or "not Outlook". Literally the only purpose is customer confusion and piggy-

I disagree. Most of climate change is caused by fossil fuels. The rest are caused e.g. by factory farming (plant & animal - e.g. pesticide rundown), plastic pollution, etc. If we had boundless nuclear energy, not only would fossil fuels
