(Creator here) ugh that's such a bummer. I didn't know that I don't see that in my browsers. Anyone have a suggestion for a better cert I could get? Starcom was so nice and simple but seems like it's causing issues for u

Chris won the Twitter lottery.... and the Uber lottery.... and the Instagram lottery..... and a bunch of other lotteries. Had arguably the best run of seed investing in history.

I also like this joke in a way except it implies Steve didn't also increase his funding and participation in his wife's philanthropic work, which he has said in multiple interviews where he's shared this anecdote that he has.

I think Dick is actually a pretty good CEO and told a good story and had a good vision for Twitter as a business. It was just a vision for "Twitter as it exists right now" which is what a hired gun CEO is going to have a vision fo

This is the first "why the Dick Costolo move was the problem" take I've ever read that made any sense to me. This is excellent. (And it should go without saying that Dick did his job, as assigned, unbelievably well. It just s

Excellent for both. C1 may have better rewards though I'm not sure, love them for both banking and credit at the moment.

Curious: were you a direct SVB client? I can recommend them enough, I basically can't imagine a better banking experience unless someone made the tech side of it better. I have heard recently of a lot of folks on HN who are somewhat un

First of all, basically any way is better than Out of Wallet Questions because they don't work on both ends. They don't really prevent fraud and most legit people fail them. Better techniques involve data / device triangulati

You're very right, although that method of authentication (known as "Knowledge Based Authentication" or "Out of Wallet Questions" more specifically) is highly ineffective. Users can't answer the questions relia

Nope! But this is a regular SVB checking account not one through Atlas so I'm not sure what the differences are. My comment is defending SVB the bank, not necessarily the Atlas account which I have less knowledge of.

Wires from (most) SVB accounts are free so, that's factually inaccurate. If you had an account that didn't have free wires you had the wrong kind of account.

SVB is absolutely fantastic, has great service, saves us a ton of money on wires, and helps in so many other ways. Great bank, happy customer.

I like this idea - but why do you let people edit the .wav part of the extension? That was super counterintuitive to me could I have done .mp3 for example? I'll leave any other feedback I have here unless you have an email I can send i

Absolutely - Giphy is a great example. There will be plenty of search engines that will grow to prominence around either a niche content type (gifs => Giphy) or a niche feature privacy => Duck Duck Go).

Not serious people in any near-term way. Even bullish AI folks think general AI is MINIMUM of 10, more likely 50-100 years away.

Why do you expect people will be trying to build a general_ai.exe? Vertical applications of machine learning and light-AI are what most private comapnies that are getting traction are doing today, while big-cos and universities (and things

One thing to bear in mind is how different Village Capital is than YC. I think it makes a ton of sense for them to do it this way, I think Techstars (alum!) should consider it, but it does seem like it works for YC.

They got physical storage on premise at grocery stores who are not going to give that to providers 2-> infinity. It's highly unlikely that anyone beyond the stores themselves will be able to compete, and they would struggle mightily

Yes it opened around this price, but the IPO price was $17. Another non-story about a stock dropping in price after it grew like crazy just before the drop.

The price of their service was $140 for the groceries the customer selected. Hard stop. The grocery store doesn't tell you what the underlying cost of their food was, nobody does that. It's not a requirement. Now it could be somet

Many comments saying something to the effect of "$140 for $80 worth of groceries? Robbery!" What's $80 worth of groceries? It's what you're willing to pay $80 for. The grocery store is marking up the food from their

Other banks relying on this third party will also be down. Actually happens all the time. Banks are very good these days at not losing your money but nothing else is guaranteed to work.
