I can already locate my stolen device through find my. If anything I want Apple to be even harder on this so that no used component could be put anywhere else and work. Ideally I would be able to remote detonate the battery to deter thieves

My email is better when quotes are colored differently, when links are clickable and when tabular data is presented as such. I define better in the Aristotelian sense - the emails job is to convey information into my brain and my argument i

Recently I moved my mail accounts back to Thunderbird - and wouldn't you know it, I can open new tabs there too. I can also make those tabs proper windows and use my window managers built in positioning (or lack thereof, curse Mac OS).

You don't actually need a smartphone, which is good because a lot of older people do not have them or can't use them. I think people sometimes forget that you can inconvinience a waitress without being an asshole about it (they ar

The standard used to be about 22 episodes a year, so that is an episode every two weeks. Many shows ran for at least 5 years, and some ran forever (days of our lives would be one example). So I don't think that is the problem. What is

>This makes no sense: manufacturers are competing with each other, if the prices on the cheapest phones will increase more then surely someone will exploit that. You assume it costs nothing to maintain software for old phones.

I think it was Carl Newport who wrote that you should only use social media for your intended purposes and that you should use what technology (I think he said tool) is most effective for your particular needs. The above is obviously my wor

That is the first good suggestion I have seen in this thread. We just need to make it illegal to not allow you app to run on an open device.

That's not great - those devices really do not have space for a replaceable battery. And no, I don't want them bigger than they already are.

Is it? It is going to meant that Android can't take advantage of the high end features of the new phones that are being released, and that old and slow phones are going to get updates that makes them run even slower. To top it of, it i

It has been happening inarguably for some time now, we need to accept that we won’t convince the last group and switch over to figuring out what we can do about it. Because I am not seeing much about that, certainly not from the activists.
