The C standard doesn't have anything to say about sockets at all, so not like it's defined to use them even in the right order.

I've not noticed any official announcment of it, but the project has felt largely abandoned for a few years now.

The local account tip is a good one. I used it when setting up Windows 11 Pro on my desktop PC. Regarding updates: you might not even need to think about registry keys! I found these Windows 10 group policy settings to work well for many ye

You're sort-of right, I think, because you do need an Apple account to sign in to the Mac App Store to get current Xcode in the first place - but the $99 is entirely optional! For distributing your program without the fee, you'll

Possibly related: this post about Lotus 1-2-3: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47279633 The Emacs interface in general isn't massively like Lotus 1-2-3's, but magit's somewhat is. The above post goes int

If the review tooling is any good, getting the code somewhere it can see it is a convenient way for people to give and receive feedback. As the saying goes, the system is what it does! (And/but yes/no, I have never worked at NAGFA

My Mac has no keyboard, it's just a metal box that sits on your desk - so an external keyboard is the only option. Nobody told me I had to get any specific type in particular! It looks like you can still use hidutil to remap some other

It's nothing like rediscovering everything. Not only is it only Emacs, but it's also been designed by people with a goal of being straightforward to use by people. And whatever you create just needs to be useful to you personally

Pretty much any Mac bought in the past 5 years can fulfil the requirements, which doesn't feel terribly unreasonable, and I bet the Intel case would be straightforward to cover too, and now you're catering for every Mac bought in

The background is indeed not black, but if it isn't actually white then it's close enough that the text, which i'm sure is indeed mostly actually grey rather than black, shows up well. I've seen worse.

I have an M4 Max Mac Studio, and my record is 5 clicks. I found the success rate much improved after I assigned a keyboard shortcut; I have had it quickly wake up again a couple of times, so it's still not quite perfect, but that'

Terminal Emacs exists only so that experienced Emacs users can still get some approximation of their preferred setup when they're stuck unable to run the proper GUI version. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.
