They can always read the book, as I suggested, and make their own mind up. They could do that with the other books I mentioned as well!

Why not just read it? You can always give up halfway through if you get bored. I quite enjoyed it, but there's something of the Young Adult Reader about it that sat ill with me. One of those books where (once I'd read it) I found

I liked it too. There's a bit near the start where one of the characters makes some comment with slightly awkward-sounding wording; I forget what, precisely, but it was exactly the sort of thing you'd expect from a modern English

Some stuff about this: https://twitter.com/genmon/status/1752663797372801485 - excellent to see how much our shiny new AI future will make it simpler to get computers to do what we want

It maybe isn't on Twitter though! It is a public place, of a sort, which should always be borne in mind.

See also this comment in the Unreal Engine code about putting a nop in before as well: https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine/blob/26677ca1b3c97... // Q: Why is there a __nop() before __deb

The annoying aspect of this is that you can end up with a deep call stack. For example, on macOS: * frame #0: 0x00007ff818dd6fce libsystem_kernel.dylib`__pthread_kill + 10 frame #1: 0x00007ff818e0d1ff libsystem_pthread.dylib

I did this once, after working for 15 years. Maybe that wasn't long enough? First question in the interview: whether I had a degree.

Some random suggestions: 1. other people may not feel the same way about the material 2. somebody else one or two sizes smaller might be able to make routine use of it with some other garment underneath 3. somebody else might feel it's

It can also be fantastically expensive. Roaming data charges for my phone outside the EU: £5/MByte.

I'm still using the macbook pro i bought new in april 2015. Nearly 9 years of use! You never got that in the 90s. And to think some say progress has stopped!

The Acorn Electron is a very different design, and the BBC Micro runs measurably faster (particularly in this case due to the high res graphics). The bbcmic.ro emulation will almost certainly be pretty much exactly the same speed as real BB

The Electron runs extra slowly in MODE 1 as the video system needs 100% of the RAM bandwidth to form the display. The CPU essentially ends up paused during the visible portion of each scan line, so the effective speed is probably more like

If storing the metadata in the heap, 0 bytes often doesn't even end up a special case. You need to have a case for allocations of some arbitrary number of bytes, and 0 is an arbitrary number of bytes. Another option is to treat them as

I'd expect the average 40 year old who is 75 kg, 15% body fat, and whose heart quickly gets to 155 bpm when on a rowing machine, is probably no stranger to at least one of push ups, pull ups, or running miles. And they could probably p

A better question is why OP isn't using a library that will do it for them! Python's argparse is pretty good in this respect. Even if you don't supply help text and good metavar names, it'll at least give you --help outp

A fair comment, unreasonably deaded. I was mean, and I did apologise for it, and I meant it - but I still did it, and that reflects poorly on me. But: if you're going to make the case for the internet making us worse off, "people

Better than that: the Saxo was from Citroen, who apparently haven't served North America since 1974 ;) The Renault equivalent would probably be the Clio. (Not a big hot hatch connoisseur though, I must admit - I just remember the Saxo

Nobody reads documentation at the time, and you shouldn't expect it. It's there so that when somebody asks about something that's got a documentation page for it, you can hand out a link.

It's presumably to reduce the number of places where you might need to call free, and then fail to do so? (This might already be happening in line 580? Though in practice perhaps that case never occurs.)
