You lament Google's dominance of the web platform while listing F-droid? Google's dominance is unfortunate, but their support for the web has been vital in keeping it (sort of) competitive with the proprietary platforms, including

These points about edge vs. chrome seem questionable to me given that Microsoft just takes Google’s browser engine for edge . I guess they each do their own optimization, but it’s not like Google is inexperienced in this area.

The Internet is awash with fake dates - old material 'up-dated' to make it appear current - but I wouldn't expect that sort of thing from SED which I have a decent amount of respect for. Perhaps the author took something he h

Yes, it may well be killed, but that’s Ok - it’s an experiment. But, yes, you need to take that into account before investing time in it. The other mistake that I think people make is assuming that because Google is a giant Corp. these thin

But you don't have to worry about or understand the Android security updates - they are applied without you even having to do a firmware update. As you indicate, security updates are not something you should have to worry about. And j

No, that's just for the security updates that must be applied as full firmware updates, usually because they are in the kernel. Google has been progressively redesigning Android over the past decade to the point where they can do all

How do you know you didn't get them? They are silent. Also, I don't think that 'not getting them' is an option other then with video drivers. The whole idea is that security updates should be pushed immediately to all

Almost all attack services are now updated remotely by Google for security issues. In the kernel only video drivers can be updated remotely (and support for this depends on the vendor). I think it is a much better way to do security update

I'm sorry that sort of argument makes no sense. Anything could happen in the future, but the price today is what the market judges it to be worth. The historical price is irrelevant as well. Looking at the historical price is the sam

I highly doubt that these measures will make it so that "the impact of the sanctions on people's day to day necessities is minimal." For one thing, the stuff that they export will often not be a good match for needs, and it w

I preferred notion initially, for many of the same reasons you outlined, but eventually I just couldn’t stand how slow notion is. Google Docs is so much faster. I’m interested to try Google’s new tables product when I get a chance.
