There are places where they embed the news itself, but that’s a separate issue that’s already been resolved - they pay the publishers for that. Ironically, one of the results of bill C 18 is that those existing deals will get cancelled.

People have latched onto this idea that penalties should be relative to the size of the company. Well then, this is what you get. Penalties should be relative to the scale and severity of the crime.

Their current generative AI is weaker because they were focused on many other facets of AI such as AlphaFold and Waymo.

I’m puzzled that stuff like alpha Fold count for nothing in this discussion (having just browsed through most of it). I saw quotes from independent scientists referring to it as the greatest breakthrough of their lifetime, and I saw similar

I don’t think he was suggesting that walled garden is perfect in this regard, but that it is much safer than bypassing it, so instances such as you list don’t really refute his point (assuming that was your intention).

It is true that big companies have brands and existing revenue stream to protect (Google), so maybe only a little company with nothing to lose could do what OpenAI did. And maybe MS found the perfect arrangement giving them an ability to ad

My understanding of this capability is that it started with the browser component and grew from there, suggesting that it happens automatically and there is nothing you need to check. But someone has pointed out that all the Framework vuln

That just refers to the security updates that require a full firmware update. I think people get focussed on that because they’re used to the iPhone where that’s only way to fix security issues. On android, the majority of security issues a
