Consider, though, that with all of the new stuff being developed in the open, and huge parts of it being open sourced outright, that this could provide the Mono team with the ability to fast track feature parity.

Switching to RyuJIT is great. Also, the SIMD support being a first-class citizen in the runtime and BCL seems huge for gaming and number-crunching related applications.

Right, you'd end up returning one bucket too little, or one bucket too much, of your full time window, depending on what tradeoff you decided was OK to have. And yeah, I was thinking of buckets as append-only lists that got dropped in

Is there some possible optimization to be made here by bucketing seconds and dropping buckets wholesale rather than having to peel off items until you find the start of the window? You'd end up quantizing the window, but.. dunno, just

Do you have any data on bringing new nodes online / offline? Obviously, rebalancing in general is going to be I/O-intensive if you have a ton of data, but has Tempest shown any upside/downside when it comes to scaling a clus

Your view is an accurate view. It takes the end user -- be it some sort of client, browser, or manual user retry -- to hit the other, alive IP(s). There's also the TTL of a bad record being dropped to consider. You can simulate IP fa

The two biggest things that jump out at me here: - you feel like you're performing well, but are being told you're not up-to-snuff - you're already worried about working 12 hour days and having to sacrifice your work/lif

FWIW, 'grace' provides graceful restarting (and graceful shutdown) while 'graceful' looks to simply provide graceful shutdown.

Just commenting to say I used this library for a project at work to great effect. I tried rcrowley/goagain, which had issues and felt like I was shoehorning everything in. I tried another that I can't remember. There's a fe

You can be honest with them without bringing up things that aren't relevant. There's a reason you don't like the PR: it's too big, it has a lot of conditional logic, etc etc. There's a bit of personal dislike with

How do the AMQP frames increase in size indefinitely? (I use DLXs and message TTLs to do timed retries, without issue, although at a very low retry rate, so maybe I'm just not hitting your purported issue with increasing frame sizes?)

In the case of RabbitMQ, it starts paging messages to disk, IIRC. If you run into descriptor / memory / disk limits, it starts turning away new messages until it returns back to a safe threshold. There's a certain amount it

An interesting point that I didn't see the author bring up is the concept of how Docker images can be built in a layered fashion, and the potential for a false sense of security. For example, you start with some sort of base image -- s

There's at least one other language (PHP, [1]) that accepts these natural language versions of times. It's not quite the same syntax, but I don't think it's necessarily uncommon for some libraries to support these sorts

I'm guessing they misspoke or misattributed their usage of CloudFront to protect S3. It's almost certainly used for predictable performance, since S3 is measurably worst in that respect.

The bit about how Riak resolves concurrent writes sounds backwards. As far as I know, it's last-write-wins by default. You need to opt into storing all the writes via allow_mult.
