Now that I’m at my laptop I can see that you are correct on most things at least now being vendored–though it took me a while to find it since the scripts in the <body> like it’s last decade instead of in the <head> with asyn

IIRC, this platform uses CDN-hosted libraries rather than bundling/vendoring. As a result, users are exposed to not just outages of the CDNs but also the data collected by these servers. That’s a bummer. …but it’s not the only bummer.

If that's true, I'll need to give it another look to consolidate all these different protocols I'm using (IRC, XMPP, Matrix). It must have been the documentation is was reading that lead me to believe this.

I don’t know if this has changed since I last used WeeChat, but I really wish there was just a configuration file I could edit for all of the settings. Most of the settings seemed to involve command prompts and they don’t port well betwee

There’s a new article every day on HN talking about the ethics of AI and many of them call out Microsoft GitHub’s Copilot, so I guess you've been missing a lot.

A lot of folks only care about the visual output of Markdown with little regard for the HTML semantics of the output or the plaintext legibility. This is why tools like these are created. Its also the audience that made READMEs no longer

Sprayed with cooking spray, then dusted with flavored gelatin power & quickly popped in the oven, you will get something that resembles those flavored popcorns with a sucker-like candy shell.

Can confirm on this one as a great bargain for the capabilities when I picked it up 1–2 years ago. Beside general home network (600/600), it also forwards the requests to my home server, blocks ads, handles WoL, & hosts coturn. Eve

Getting someone up and running with a flake.nix with a defined devShell is just as simple and probably requires less knowledge since it's not another tool bolted on. Making the env and CI reproducible should be seen more like a good st

Disagree. The larger selling point is Nix reproducible builds. Getting a reproducible developer environment is a start, but everything inside that “shell” is then mutable. Hiding Nix behind YAML is obscuring a tool, Nix, to make the entire

ESL learners would probably appreciate the visual split between voiced ð & voiceless þ from the th digraph that isn’t a dental fricative (e.g. Thailand, Thomas, Thames). With such a reform we could replace “the” with standalone “ð” whic
