You might be attributing too much to the actions of this administration. And fwiw, real wage growth doesn't look that great. It has actually been negative for the last few months. I don't think "standing up to dictatorships&q

The software fix is probably further automation to disable the system when some other sensor indicates that it is misbehaving - i.e. it is probably a band aid on top of a band aid.

We got a price increase this year on our water bill (on top of drought surcharges from prior years) because the district used less water than expected, so that the district "needed to increase prices to remain profitable." Use les

There's some indication that mass shootings are contagious, so there is a possibility that not publicizing them does help prevent it from happening again. https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/j

There are no subtle questions about whether or not the earth is flat. Continental drift and geology are very much irrelevant.

I think you are confusing how hard it is to convince flat-earthers that the earth is not flat with how ridiculously easy it is to prove the the earth is not flat. I (and the original comment you responded to) are discussing the second o

There are distinctions between them. Some of the things you mention make claims that fall into the domain of science (I.e. are falsifiable) and some do not (those regarding spirituality, miracles, etc). That is an important and worthwhile

Sounds like you are just talking about things you find really weird rather than things that are easily falsifiable. I'm not convinced that any of the things you are discussing can be disproved more easily than flat earth.

I think geometric algebra is a very cool and elegant approach as well, but it has not yet proved useful or valuable to working engineers. If we want to compare to programming languages, perhaps Haskell vs. C. One is beautiful and elegant, t

Even if hardware support existed, it seems like a variable length encoding has some inherent overhead relative to a fixed length encoding. If you have a "base length" of e.g. 32 bits and occasionally expand to 64, there's an
